Anthony Davis is no mere mortal. Will end up being our Michael Jordan?

Crawford, unless they sign serious talent around him, I think it could be a realistic possibility that he returns home to the Bulls at some point. I wish Anthony the best of luck, but with NOLA being a small market, they are hard pressed to get him quality help for the long term. I would hate to see him stay in NOLA like Garnett did for so many years with Minnesota and "waste" his prime. I am sure the young man is intelligent enough to know what is best for himself though.

Through three quarters tonight, he has 32 points (12-19 FG, 8-8 FT), 10 rebounds, 4 blocks, 3 steals, 3 assists, and 0 turnovers.

It is turning into a blowout against the Sixers, so he may be done for the night.

Davis is a great player, but a new one of those comes around every few years. What made Jordan even better than the rest is he wanted "it" (to win) more than everyone else.

Its really weird to say, and I'm in no way going to say that Davis will be as good as jordan, but I honestly believe his potential is up there as jordan-caliber player, especially for his position. Hes only 21 and his game is constantly expanding, he could really turn out to be a kind of once-in-a-generation type player

His PER blows away anyone else in the league. Dude is only 21... I would say he has the chance to be an all time great...

Like top 5 ever great.

I agree with the point...if he doesn't get a team Tht can help some, and win championships..like 3 or so, then Imo he will not make it into the top 5 to 10 players of all time. I think he has the talent, but championships define.

Potential injuries are the only things that might keep him from being one of the best ever. He's more skilled than just about any big I've ever seen. If he adds a three point shot, he might be unstoppable.

WOW!!

It's pretty amazing to me the small list of players that actually won a title in college and the NBA. Without looking it up how many can you name? I got 6 (ps I forgot Nazr) smh

We have a number of ex players emerging as great NBA players, but AD is the best of the lot. The young man is on track to become a true superstar. Lots of things can derail it like injury, or playing on lackluster teams, but hopefully it will happen. If NO isn't willing/able to fork over what's needed to build a championship caliber squad around him I hope they let him go someplace that will. The Lakers, Bulls, etc. No one player, no matter how great he is can win a NBA title. Jordan couldn't, and neither could Lebron.

You saying Nazr helped me remember Walker and Anderson (with the 06 Heat). Then there's the guys I know because they were Lakers: Goodrich, Lovelette, Rice, and obviously Magic, Kareem and Worthy.

Otherwise, I can think of Russell, Jordan, Zeke, Walton, , KC Jones, Corliss Williamson, Rip Hamilton, Mario Chalmers.

How many are there total? Feel like I'm missing someone obvious.

We are extremely lucky he spent his one year in Lex. I am almost certain whatever college he would have decided to go to would have been a contender.

Umm.... Jonathan gotta take an issue with anyone who claims a great player like Anthony Davis comes around every few years. Lol.

Yea. No.

As a matter of fact the only player I can call that is even remotely close in HISTORY is Bill Russell.

And again, Jordan was drafted by a major market team in Chicago, had great talent around him, and that has no bearing on what kind of player Anthony Davis is.

He's Davis is going to be our best player in the league ever, and whatever is out of his control (talent around him) makes no difference. Lots of players have "it" (will to win) but they don't have NBA LEGENDS like Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman. They also don't always have a major market team willing to pay and a coach like Phil Jackson. Mix that with the shoes and jordan +situation+marketing made jordan much much greater than any one player can be. Davis is a jordan type player. He's 21. Look at his numbers. It's unbelievable.

He will have to go somewhere and win titles. It took Jordan 7 years...so he has time. He needs to go to a team where he can win after his contract ends...IMO.

^ and jordan came out after his junior year. he's on the fast track to a hof career.

There is a bidding war coming soon for Davis' services that will be something to behold. I think the odds that he stays in New Orleans are pretty low. Being so good at such a young age, literally makes him the hottest commodity in the league.
Davis is putting up All-Star numbers on the court right now but, the day is fast approaching when his name will be synonymous with a LOT of zero's!

He absolutely could end being our Jordan. Kid can sky like no other, he can run the fast break, dribbles like a guard, defense is ridiculous. I mean he's only going to get better and better. I also believe he has that will to win that Jordan had. You put him on a decent team and he'll lead them to a championship. Just look at Wall is doing for the Wizards. They finally got some talent around him and he's taken his game to another level.

Next few years the NBA is gonna be littered with Cats

Oscar Robertson can be added into that College-Pro list. Shaq should be on there, but he was saddled with Dale Brown.

AD needs help and lots of it. He won't be in the conversation until he starts getting his team in NBA Finals, like LeBron.

Oscar didn't win a title at Cincy, went to two final 4's though.

Yep Oscar left in 60. They were runner up in 63 too.

1) Stay healthy. Requires a bit of intelligence and a lot of luck.

2) The will to win. Hard to quantify. Jordan had this more than anyone, period. It's early, but I don't think anyone in this generation will have the same kind of will. MKG shows glimpses. What do you think?

That "it" didn't help Jordan win anything until the Bulls got enough talent to help him. And no, players like Davis do not come along every few years.

It's painful how little talent they have around Davis in NO. I went to the Sixers-Pelicans game last week when Davis did not play, and the Sixers were a better team and beat them by 16. They were just horrible. Ryan Anderson and even Tyreke Evans are shells of their former selves. They really have nobody who could get a rebound or a big bucket when they needed it. Davis comes back last night and goes 32/10 and the Pels pound the Sixers into dust.

He is crazy to stay there.

AD is going to be more helpful to us than Jordan will be to UNC from here on out. Recruits are going to be watching AD put himself in the same conversation as Lebron and Durant. These kids didn't grow up watching Jordan play.

As the years go on Jordan will be relegated to the same status as Wilt is for KU, or Kareem for UCLA. All-time greats of course and still a great name to have to your school's credit, but not something that the recruits are going to associate with the guys they watch on tv. If Davis continues to play this way for the next, what, ten years or more? That's going to be pay dividends on the recruiting trail like Jordan did for UNC from about the late eighties onto the mid 2000s.
