The clear issue with this team is they have a bunch of catch and shoot guys but nobody who can get them the ball or create their own shot. Robinson could create jump shots for himself, but now that is gone.
Yes. Short window or not he went way too one dimensional in the portal last year. Everything is getting overplayed by superior athletes and there are two guys on the whole roster that can get by their guy.

Trent Noah’s line over the past 4 games

Vandy - 16 minutes. 0 points
Alabama - 23 minutes, 2 points
Oklahoma - 14 minutes, 0 points
Auburn - 8 minutes, 0 points

Dude is struggling since a couple decent games against Tennessee and Texas.
Struggling with shooting for sure. But he's playing because he's rebounding very well, and defends better than Almonor. Almonor is a terrible rebounder and bad defender and can't create his own shot... as others pointed out he's good for one thing and one thing only, catch-and-shoot.

There is one glaring difference between Noah and Almanor. Both can shoot. But Noah tries for rebounds. Almanor does not. He is worse than Brea on defense. Watch him. 9/10 times he watches his man go past him doesn't even try if he's beat. Doesn't go for rebounds. Both players lack athletic ability. I think Noah is going to be an exceptional roleplayer off the bench for kentucky in year 2 or 3.

Just guarded different (tighter).

His number showed up on the scouting report after a couple decent games.

Teams adjusted to his abilities no he has to make some adjustments to find open spaces, not rushing shots

Say what??? Teams know that he is just a catch and shoot player. Literally didn’t move. They don’t leave him and he’s not even putting up shots to score double figures.
He has the capability to be more. Did you not see the AND1 move to the basket against Tennessee at home that gave us a huge momentum lift?

One time, he did something that was incredible.......UK has the ball, somebody shoots and he tips the rebound to our guy near the left side of the basket, creating a play, made the basket and got fouled and 1.

And still, we are Lunardi's #13 overall seed with three wins agains the top four and four wins against the top eight. Now that we know Robinson won't return, Pope has the smarts to tweak some things and change the way we play just enough to be competitive going forward. The key may be Andrew Carr whose ceiling is still pretty unknown at this point. The way Carr worked the painted area against Duke was tremendous and he can pass to the corners.

He should not see the floor at all barring extreme foul trouble or injuries. He does nothing but stand there and wait to see if he can shoot a 3. He can't pass, he can't dribble, he can't defend, he can't rebound. He doesnt cut and get open. He's a total black hole. Sorry if it sounds mean but I mean...the numbers and film don't lie.

We simply don’t set enough screens for our guys to get open. Also, many of our 3 point shooters just stand around. Once someone starts dribbling, our guys stop moving too with the exception of the pick at the top.

This to, but teams know our guys can’t finish at the rim so they just sit on the 3 point line and gamble on them making layups

Pope has to implement better sets.

On caveat is the Cats also play in a league where an offense that is based on guys cutting off screens is limited because defenders are allowed to grab/hold cutter like crazy.

When have that combined with the fact several of these Cats are a 1/2 step to a full step slower than their defenders, it makes for an easy offense to defend BECAUSE so few can just create off the dribble by blowing past their defender.

It’s also why Coach Pope has preached so much about the importance of cutting really hard…then, if the defenders hold, it becomes more obvious and easier to call

I think I’d rather play Carr, Garrison and Williams together with Butler and Oweh. Tell Garrison he isn’t handling the ball or passing. He’s going to play defense and look for rebound buckets.

Butler is going to have to play 36 minutes. He gets a 1 minute break before each tv timeout. And Brea’s minutes are as a sub 1-3 spots with Carr sliding yo the 4 when needed.

AND you got to see some zone!

I look at Almonor as the Lance Ware type of role replacement. Looking at that, he's a huge upgrade. Thing is--that doesn't mean you are looking at a guy who if the role increases, it's going to be productive. So he's leveled off to a guy who was at FDU for a reason. Usually when you watch these Mid Major transfers, they show you why they were bypassed the first time-look at the Mayo kid at Kansas--he's been ass for over a Month now. Why? He can't create his own shot and now he's not even making open shots/looks he's getting.

I know Pope is trying to play 10 guys to keep fresh legs on the court, but I think it's time to trim it down to 7 or 8 and play the main 5 guys as much as possible.
