I hate to hear this. Camara has a lot of potential and gave the team some good minutes this past year. Go UK Hoops! Go Cats!!

Yeah, something is going on in that program for sure. Camara was a starter and contributed well at end of season and will be missed. Not sure 6 is accurate for transfers. One was kicked off team then there were 3 transfers before this one but that's still quite a few. Mitchell has to be held somewhat accountable for holding a program together.

I think Camara was closely tied to Amadou the assistant whose contract was not renewed. In my opinion the Camara transfer hurts because she was going to be the main building block along with Jennings after next season. The other defections were not as critical in my opinion, with only Harper being a main rotational player. I had no problem with Maci Morris getting more PT, as she provided much needed outside shooting.

It doesn't matter a great deal if Mitchell continues to recruit no one over six three. You can contend for the second tier with no bigs, but they won't crack their way into the upper echelon without more quality height.

I meant it's a shame UK fans don't support the women's team more. They have had some pretty good teams the last couple of years.
I'm curious how well Stanford, Notre Dame, UT and some of the other top teams, not named UCONN, are supported. I have to think like most levels of athletics that women's basketball is pretty far down the support scale.

UT women's games used to draw bigger crowds than their men at many games. Not sure now, but women's basketball is still very popular.

Yea that's why i was asking, I have to think at a couple schools it is still supported well. I should have left them out of the question as they were the best program in history...more wondering about let's say the next 10 programs after UCONN and UT.

No, 6 is accurate. 4 during the season, or just before, and 2 since. And I heard an assistant is leaving too, although that could just be a normal coaching move.

In 2015, South Carolina led womens basketball attendance surpassing Tenn, which owned the record for 11 straight years.
South Carolina, Tennessee and Louisville was the top 3 drawing teams, UCONN 6th and our Lady Hoops in at 7th.

Either way it's a lot but one girl was the transfer from Oregon who Mitchell booted for not keeping up to program standards. Are you also counting her as a transfer even though she was kicked off team by the coach? Like I said, though, it's a lot of players leaving in such a short time for one reason or another. Not good.

South Carolina only surpassed Tennessee because they hosted UCONN and UT stunk. Nobody watches or attends women's hoops unless they are winning, and unless they are winning big, attention soon fizzles out. I believe UCONN is ruining the sport. Everyone loses regard for a sport when the final outcome is predetermined.

UCONN has dominated women's basketball for the last 8 years but yet, overall, women's basketball has seen rising attendance for that same period. The 14-15 season was 4th highest in the past 30+ years, proving your statement to be inaccurate.

Mitchell has won a lot of games, I thank he a very good coach they lost 2 or 3 players during the season, it is hard to figure out why all the players are leaving..

Way to cherry pick your stats. This past year attendance was down, you even had Uconn's coach begging people to come to the games. Maybe in another 100 years women's attendance will be comparable to the men's game. Most women's games, even at the highest level only averaged about 5.000 attendees or less. The 2015-16 women's tournament lost several million dollars.
