I know that neither Anderson or Mercer played the point but I was trying to think of a duo that dominated like Ulis and Murray. I have a hard time picking but I think that I'd take Anderson and Mercer due to size and a little more experience. Who you got?

I think that's a pretty bad comparison.

Knight and Lamb are pretty good. Ramel and Joe wouldn't have been too bad either with a legit coach to mange their senior year.

Not a bad comparison at all. OP isn't comparing skill sets or positions, he is comparing impact.

I'd say it is close, but might give very slight edge to DA and Anderson. DA was being considered even with Duncan for PoY.

I'm still pissed about that year. DA and Mercer could have had Saul Smith at the point and won the championship.

It's not close. Anderson, a fifth year senior, was a 1st Team AA, a few even had him as NPOY, when he went down. Mercer, arguably the #1 player in a class featuring Garnett, Marbury and Pierce the year before. ended up 1st Team AA as a sophomore.

^ This happened when the talent level in CBB was still very high as players routinely stayed until their Jr./Sr. seasons and few left after their freshmen seasons.

How many comparison threads are there going to be at the same time?

Your entitled to your opinion but to say it isnt close remains to be seen.
If UK plays 40 gms Ulis is on pace to set the single season assist mark at UK and Murray is on pace to set the most made threes at UK for a single season.
Plus Ulis avg damn near 17 ppg!
One is a So. And the other is a Fr.
Ulis is starting to get hype for NPOTY and Murray may very well end the season leading the team in scoring as a Frosh at over 20 ppg.

Picking Anderson and Mercer in this is no slight to Ulis and Murray, it's just a tribute to how truly incredible they were together until Anderson got hurt.

Look if Ulis and Murray set assists and made three single season records while avg. 20 and 17 ppg and cut em down you Mercer Anderson folks wont have a leg to stand on.

"dominated" like Ullis and Murray? No offense to the OP, but this squad has way too many losses to compare to DA and Mercer, who together lost a whopping 4 games over 1-1/2 seasons before DA's injury. This squad has lost 6 games already. Murray is a good player, but if he was on the 96 or 97 team he would be watching more basketball than playing it.

If they cut them down we Mercer Anderson folks will be happy to have our legs cut out from under us. I'm speaking for everybody. good post. [eyeroll]

It'll be hard to top DA and Mercer. I watched some games from that 97 season on billionth's site last week, and they were a great tandem. If only ...

Jamal and Tyler are great too.

The yr they won it they had Walker, McCarty, Epps was the PG Delk was the shooting guard.

So shouldnt we be talking about an Epps/Delk v Ulis/Murray?
