Amazing how a coach's genius level goes down when not playing Furman, Middle Tenn State, Wake and Georgia Southern as opposed to a legit SEC D

Playing too many cupcakes too early doesn't give you a good measuring stick of what you've actually got. Those games are damned if you do, damned if you don't types in that if you win by 4 TDs, ho hum, you're supposed to. If it's a nail biter or you lose, the season's over, the team sucks, the staff sucks. Can't win either way.

Certainly does NOT prepare you to go toe to toe with a team with comparable talent and physicality. The big boys play just a bit faster and rougher than FCS and MAC. They have a few good players (who'll get snatched up in the portal) but not nearly enough, many times, to make the game competitive.

Not 4 straight CC as Wake is way down too.
I knew it would cost them and it did.

IMO the issue was their reading the headlines and disrespecting the Cats as 15.5 point favorites.

Then the perfect thing happened. They came right out and scored a TD re-enforcing that attitude. Best thing ever for a road dog.

They played the rest of the game expecting it to just happen. It never quite did and the shank at the end was predictable at that point.

Great win for the Cats.

People, here and elsewhere, dont give uk enough credit. We have an elite defense and a very good team.

Ole miss is an excellent team. Elite offense and very good defense. Everyone should take note this is the first game we couldn't run inside. That is significant.

It was no fluke. White held lane in check before and will next time they face. We just executed better.

It's yet to be seen if their offense is elite. Putting up monster numbers against sub par competition apparently gave them a false sense of being unstoppable. If they can run their numbers and scores back up through the SEC then yeah I would probably consider them elite.

Yes.

I shake my head at the “poor game planning,” and “X out coached Y” posts following a narrow win or narrow loss.

I’ve got a good friend who never played the game. With every close loss, he complains about the “game plan.”

So I started asking him, “what about the ‘game plan’ offended you?”

“We lost!”

Uuuhh, OK, but what about the details??????

So, for this particular game, had Ole Miss recovered the fumble in our end zone, and run out the clock for a close win, would Lane have out-coached Stoops, merely upon the change of one critical play?

If so, those complaints about who out-coached whom, or the “game plan” are really just bullsh!t spit-balling based upon the outcome, and not the quality of the coaching or game plan.

Oh, my bud who judges the “game plans” or the decisions of coaches making millions . . . went to the USCe road game with me in ‘15. As Denzil Ware was running back the fumbled Pharoh two point attempt, after USCe’s last TD, he asked if it counted for 6 points . . . .

“Uhhhh, no bud, that counts for two points!”

Yes they are an elite offense. They have one of the best wr and wr corp along with one of the best qbs. Plus their offensive coaching is top notch.

Not sure why our fans want to devalue our defense and defensive performance. Same thing happened vs Georgia when people claimed Kirby "took it easy on us".

I will not take one game and say Kiffin is not a very good coach, Last year he beat several SEC teams and went 11-2 (6-2 in the SEC). UK took it to Ole Miss and beat them, it is one game, not a career defining moment as to how good / bad of a coach Kiffin is. EVERY team losses games they are not suppose to, it is what makes college football so great. If Georgia had lost to UK, would you say Kirby Smart is not a great coach ? Sill, just like with Kiffin.
