Don’t be fooled though. Braden Smith isn’t dunking on anyone but he is very quick. He absolutely creates for himself, can beat guys off the dribble and scored at the rim. One of the best passers in CBB at any position.

I agree. As I did with Agbim I will start watching full games and provide a more detailed breakdown/analysis for those who don’t want to waste their life away. I’m familiar already with his game but I’ll be looking for the nuanced things like what his tendencies are, how he communicates with teammates, go to moves, offensive and defensive strengths and weaknesses. I freaking love portal season.

Why are you so convinced Braden Smith is that much worse than Sears (and Ziegler, Clayton, other top SEC guards)? Between Sears and Smith, their advanced stats are similar and Smith is ahead in some significant ones, including PER (22.5 vs 19.3). He leads the country in assist percentage, he leads the Big Ten in points produced. They've shot a comparable number of threes this year (Smith 203 vs Sears 227) and Smith is shooting quite a bit better (38.4% vs 34.4%). He has 120 more assists and 40 more steals on the season than Sears, and leads the Big Ten in both. They both might be first team All Americans this season, but I think Smith is the more likely of the two.

UK would be a huge offseason winner if we got Smith in the transfer portal.

I can’t even believe this is a discussion. If he wants to transfer here you take him. He’s an elite college player. Like seriously? Dude just played in the national championship game, is widely regarded as at least top 5 if not the best college PG in the game. He’s also a top 10 Naismith finalist.
