Alex Poythress vs Duke (Full Highlights) [13.11.2012]

This was early enough in Poy's career that I don't think he'd ever been challenged on a basketball court; he'd probably never fathomed anyone could stand in his way and it shows in this video. He's gradually regained that swagger after it got somewhat reset along the way. I'm looking for a monster year from him.

WOW.

The way he went after rebounds in that game was extremely impressive. He also showed some skills using his dribble to get baskets.

Poy is one of my favorite Cats of all time and I hope, for his sake, he has a great season.

If he can be close to like this again, UK will be in the hunt again

Poy is going to finally get his PT at the 4 this year I think. If he doesn't have lingering issues with the injury, I believe he has a monster year. I'm really hoping because he's a great kid that deserves it. His upside is incredible IMO.

I hope Alex has that same fire after being out for a year. He could be that X factor to make this team great!

On a side note , listening to vitale in that game reminds me he said the same thing when Rodrick Rhodes had his breakout game his, freshman year. Something along the lines of mash being the king and Rhodes being the prince. But then Rod went off and he called him a king.

Man you gotta love that kid, huge game for Alex. If only Noel hadn't went down and if we would have had a PG then I think we could have made the tournament easily.

Thanks for the highlight video Preacher, I hope he is completely healed and has a monster season and gets drafted first round:cool2:

Your Welcome. Sometimes we all to step back and look at where we have been, To get a glimpse at what the future holds and the direction we need to be going.

Still pissed we lost that game (and so looking forward to revenge this Nov!). I was there as well. That was the only game I got to attend that year too and to make it even worse it was my birthday and the game was a gift! UGH! We all thought Poy was going to be legendary after that game though. I remember that being the lone bright spot of the night. I think he knows this is his chance- it's now or never. Leave it all on the floor big guy!

I'm a HUGE Poythress fan but it struck me, watching those clips, that I haven't seen him handle the ball like that since his freshmen year. Just appears, to me at least, to have lost a lot of confidence when it comes to shooting and ball-handling.

These things will either improve or they won't and I don't think they are what is necessary for UK to be successful next year. Poythress just MUST play to his strenghts next year. Defend, rebound, get put-backs/dunks. Pretty much just be the physical specimen that he is and have those one or two special plays that only he can make during close games.
