Alex Poythress: 15 points tonight!

Can anyone show me a clip of him shooting anything besides a corner 3 while at UK?

AP played so timidly here... I hope he can play well enough to stay in the NBA a few years

Now if Dakari could just get a shot. The guy has been the best center in the D-league and he's hostage to OKC.

I’m happy for him in that he made the wise choice to leave and pursue a professional career as opposed to returning for a 5th year, something some of our selfish fans wanted him to do.

If AP continues to hit the three with consistency, he’ll be in the league past this year. Good pickup for Philly.
I wanted him to come back, not as a selfish gesture but I thought that's what would be best for him. Same with Briscoe. We'll be fine with or without them but in my opinion returning would've been best for them long term.

I still believe we're 40-0 if Poythress doesn't tear his ACL. We needed him to guard Decker and Hayes vs Wisconsin.
Yep. Always said the same. He was the only really athletic 3 on that team, which was so deep we really didn't miss him until the last game. (Not exactly true - he would've come in handy against Norte Dame's smaller, skilled team, and against Georgia, and maybe others I'm forgetting. But it wasn't until Wisconsin that his absence was glaring.).....

If he were to sign for the rest of the year, does anybody know what kind of $$$$ he would get? He is getting Top 7 minutes.

AP left UK with a masters in finance I think...Briscoe is nowhere in that ballpark!

He would get the rookie minimum prorated, the rookie minimum is like $700K I think. Problem is the season is over. There's 1 regular season game left.

Exactly, Alex is set for life either way. He completed his education so he always has that to fall back on. Play a few years, make enough to retire on, then manage money for all his former teammates. There is a big difference between him and Briscoe, although I am pulling for him to succeed as well.

I don't think I ever complain when guys leave, but if he had wanted to come back and try to win a national title, I would have understood that too.

Great for Alex. The NBA loves 6'8'', athletic dudes who can shoot a 3 and defend. He could play a lot of years if he keeps this up.

For those wondering how the heck he's so good in the pros and could never really get it going here... face it, the NBA is a better game than the NCAAs. You can criticize the pick and roll and iso being basically the only two plays they run, and that's fair. But it's just 1000x more enjoyable to watch because they aren't actively trying to foul out anyone with ability. If the NCAA had it's way, it'd be all 5'11'' dudes running the Princeton offense.
