Thankful he never hurt/killed anyone. Also furious that he continued to live in a reckless manner because so many enabled his addiction/self destruction. I mean you can't call anyone to pick you up? Selfish. Just hope he doesn't play the victim, he knew what he was doing but also hope that WVU doesn't act like they give a damn about any of this, they are just reacting to him getting caught (again) and know that they stuck by him earlier with other incident couldn't do so again this close together. Hell, they let the guy "resign" instead of doing what needed to be done to sober his ass up. You were fired because you are a 70 yr old man with no self control or respect for yourself or others. Grow Up.
Absolutely correct, but also having lost relatives and close friends to addiction is tragic. He is accountable for his actions. Here is hoping he gets himself on the right track and can use himself as an example to others as to what can happen even to those on a pedestal.
I've often learned that people on pedestals often have cracked foundations.

Amen… I was thinking about this , this morning…he needs compassionate intervention in his life Right Now…from the basic, human perspective… not the Coach or the ego associated with coaching perspective … but from the BASE perspective of a person that needs to be compassionately engaged to change the trajectory of his life… forevermore…
I agree, but he’s also had these demons for a long while. He lost his last job because of it. I’m surprised at his age he hasn’t made more of an attempt to get clean. He has the money for the best rehabs in the country. I hope he gets help. I know how hard it is to break the cycle as well.
I’m sure he realizes he was fired, just allowed to quit for optics. He obviously isn’t playing the victim by doing that.

Unfortunately alcohol and drugs are glorified in culture today. Just like many here who do it. Growing up with an alcoholic in my household (not my parents) made me committed to never be that way. From personal experience you can give alcoholics and drug addicts all the support and help they need, BUT until they make personal decisions to stop it's all fruitless.
The best rehabs money can buy in the country are WORTHLESS unless the addicted person is truly commited to going thru all the hell it takes to get away from the demon IN CHARGE of their life!
I'm just a bit in front of you at 115 days. I'm sure about quitting after liver failure and emergency surgery plus 5 days in ICU.
Technically my cirrhosis, which is advanced, is non-alcohol related. You can have it just from being too fat for too long, but I mixed in too much alcohol. Strangely I never had any warning in my blood work. Even during failure my numbers weren't bad. So, don't depend on good blood work and take fatty liver disease seriously.
If you feel like you can't go a day without drinking ever how many, then you are an alcoholic. My wife's sister gets drunk every day as did her husband until he HAD to quit for health reasons. They both worked(work) steady jobs and have a nice home, cars etc., but they both are paying the health conquencies from the abuse.
