Caught up with Mitch Barnhart yesterday regarding the baseball team. He said UK is ready to host a regional. Cliff Hagan Stadium has a capacity of 3,000 right now but he wants to get it to 4,500. Temporary seating will likely be placed down the left field line and beyond the left field wall.

Interesting that the "spokesperson" corrected him and said they'd be looking for a capacity of around 4,500 instead of 6,000. I'm wondering if Barnhart was factoring in the number of folks they'd anticipate to be hanging out in the "Cliff" and parking lot just beyond right center field, and the spokeperson's number excluded that area -- is the Cliff area still not technically in the stadium so that people don't need a ticket to go to that area and people can "tailgate" out there if they like? If so, hopefully UK would be able to continue that same arrangement for a regional so that it would be a great atmosphere.

I believe 4,500 would be about right, I do not know about 'Standing Room', if that is even an option. Not out on the RF area, but in general around the ball park, it could be a possibility.

I guess they won't even consider Whitaker Bank ball park?

Regionals are first weekend in June and Legends are home that weekend. Legends are on the road Super Regional weekend if that comes to pass

Is there a rule that allows us to be able tolay there if it comes about?

I believe so, it seems like Coastal Carolina had a similar scenario a while back where they played a regional or Super Regional at the Myrtle Beach minor league park rather than their home field in Conway.
