Cal is always there for his players to share in their biggest moment in life. I wont mention names but where were all the other great coaches of the lottery picks last night? Oh nevermind I know, they were all at home watching film of their opponents. wink wink

Murray and the draft marks the return of swaggy cal. Couldn't be better timing too.

Only Cal felt the need to get himself on TV last night. The rest of the coaches felt it was the PLAYERS time in the sun.

You really think Cal went up to ESPN and said, "hey guys I'm in the building be sure to get me on camera as much as possible, it's all about me."

Oh I'm sure they didn't want him there, as evidenced by how the families and players alike embraced him. /sarcasm

Weak take, go home and think about what you've done.

Seriously, why the eff would coach K not be there? 3 first rounders, and he can't even phone it in? Why?

Quote from ESPN article

"Krzyzewski will be in New York this week, but not for the draft. Instead he will be on hand for the National Association of Basketball Coaches' presentation of its Court of Honor Award to John Thompson Jr.

He will meet later that evening with the Okafor and Winslow families for dinner, but said he prefers to stay away from the actual draft itself, worried he would detract attention from his players. Associate head coach Jeff Capel will be on hand in his place."

Fair enough, but personally, I'd still be there. I'd may tell ESPN that I won't be doing interviews, but I'd be there to shake my draftees hand. To each their own, I guess. Our players didn't seem to mind having Cal on hand.

I honestly don't see this as a big deal. Cal already did his job. Once those players step on to that stage at the draft, the next level of their career has officially begun. Not really any reason for the kid's college coach to be there, other than to be seen. It's a recruiting tool and Cal has that mastered. If other coaches don't opt to go that route, that makes it easier for Cal, no doubt. I like that he goes, but I don't particularly think it'd be a big deal if he didn't.

Yeah...that's it I'm sure. [eyeroll]

Why are you concerned anyways? Don't believe Kansas had any lottery picks. Don't think Self had much motivation to make the trip.
Self is coaching in an exhibition game tonight in KC as Team USA's World University Games team plays against the Canadian team in preparation for next week's games in Korea.

Ding, ding. We have a winner.

Hey, what do you know. I was RIGHT.

Krybabyschitzski likes a stacked deck... he knew that even with all of his allies in the Sports Media helping him out, he wouldn't be able to outshine Cal and the Cats at the NBA Draft.

As for Coach Cal, it's pretty obvious his relationships are genuine, and that his presence was appreciated. Basically, this is probably the last time they'll all be in the same room together for a while... so, they made the most of it.
