Reflecting back on today's events, it was a good start for the Cats. True, we left too many men on base but the opponent was fighting for survival. I like the idea of using Salow for only 1 inning, because when you stretch him out the other team seems to catch up to him specially if he has to go through the batting order more than once. Today's game, you have to start Lewis and do everything to try to win this game.
I expect another low scoring game and if you get 7 innings out of Lewis, I would pitch Machemer and Salow for the 8th and ninth innings.
Other games that told me that this tournament is wide open were North Carolina, Stanford, Florida State and Houston, all #1 seeds losing. One other score that gave me some hope was Louisville giving up 6 to Radford. Hope Oklahoma can take the Cards today.
