A bit off-topic: there are bigger problems at U of L than with football.

I had to quote the full paragraph Morgantowncard (yes, there is a Card fan in Morgantown) where he hilariously explains the chances of their basketball coach being fired:

“My prediction 4 years ago was that Mack would be playing walk-ons for significant time after the hammer falls, which I infer Tyra was in line with that kind of thinking b/c of the automatic extension (and increased buyout) directly tied to any post-season ban. If THAT scenario plays out, Mack would have to go to a press conference wearing UK gear, smoke crack, have Katina Powell sit on his lap and twerk on Tim Sullivan while yelling "WHOOMP THERE IT IS!" to get fired.”

Apparently, MogantownC doubts Mack will be fired.

He has a buyout of 12 million, and the more I read, the more I’m convinced they cannot afford to fire either Mack or Satt, and certainly not both in a year, as another 20-25 million in buyouts is not sustainable by them AGAIN.

We got em' right where we want em'

On second thought, Isn’t this actually a synopsis of U of L Athletics the last ten years:

“Mack would have to go to a press conference wearing UK gear, smoke crack, have Katina Powell sit on his lap and twerk on Tim Sullivan while yelling ‘WHOOMP THERE IT IS!’ to get fired.”

You really hate to see it……

…… no, not really.

I don’t follow college BB all that closely anymore apart from UK and the SEC to a lesser extent, but what exactly is going on with UofL BB? I’m not a regular on Rafters and I don’t want to show my ignorance over there lol.

I was surprised to learn not too long ago that Chris Mack is on the hot seat…. I guess the NCAA still hasn’t reached a final decision on sanctions for their BB program(?). Meanwhile, Auburn, among others, gets a relative wrist slap, and is none the worse for their cheating. Can’t believe I’m showing the slightest amount of sympathy but in some respects I can understand why they’re pretty unhappy.

Mack will be fired. They expect significant violations which trigger a clause in his contract that let's them terminate him (without paying the remainder of the deal).Imo they're just treading water until that shoe drops.

Big picture, it's pretty incredible what's gone on there the last 10 years. Everything from actual federal crimes to a slew of other actions that should've been federal crimes. Even their cheer coach had to quit under some crazy scandal. Their women's bb coach abruptly quit out of the blue too, which usually means scandal. Guess noone cared enough to wade through everything else to find out what went on.

Football specifically dodged what should've been major sanctions when Clint hurt brought in players that were obviously paid for. And let's not forget the neverending public infidelity that spanned at least two football coaches and one basketball coach.

Sure, but besides this things are trending in the right direction for UofL.

I mean they basically had a player at a press conference yesterday say they didn't care about the coaching staff.

And they're having to retire former players jerseys to sell tickets to games
Back in the old days they would give 2 free football tickets at Kroger if you bought a loaf of bread. Doubt you'll have to buy the bread next year.

That makes it sweeter. Maybe the Kentucky State Legislature can sending them about $20 million to bale them out.

You're joking, but that was the first thought that came to my mind as I read the buyout. Never underestimate big city bailout corruption.

Mack has some rumored violations of his own, and they are losing, badly.

Jmo, but I think the NCAA is dragging it out BECAUSE UofL hasn't done what they should've done- fire him for cause. They're letting that program stir in its own sewage at this point.
......

It's not any more criminal than what the NCAA has always done. Problem is that programs that know they have major violations have no room to tall about how the NCAA handles it, especially when it helps the violators (like UNC for instance).

Should be called the NCLPA. THEY PROTECT their own, (crime lords), and screw those who spend time and effort trying to do things right. They throw their own "rules" out the window when it suits them, and prosecute to the max based on nothing but speculation when it suits them. They don't care and don't have to because they're untouchable as an organization/association. I ceased buying merchandise with the ncaa hologram tag because I want them to get as little of my money as possible.

They also just got rid of a football coach because he was stalking a female. I guess they’re improving though, cause this would have been allowed in previous times .

Louisville never should’ve worked with the NCAA. Did them no good. UNC and Duke never did and the NCAA did nothing to them.

UofL has absolutely collapsed in basketball and football.

I didn’t work all that well. They drew 16,175 yesterday which isn’t terrible considering that the team sucks. But Russ is probably their most loved player of the 21st century.

You gotta admit though, that the way the NCAA is handling this is criminal. They STILL haven't resolved the violations from YEARS ago....

That's rough
They kept appealing. If they had just taken their medicine for clear violations they would be past it by now. They still have Jurich people there though. They won't admit they did anything wrong.... ever.

And to suck out all the profits while the Kentucky taxpayer is subsidizing it. Isn't the city of Louisville on the hook for the payments?
I think the whole state is on the hook for it, if I understand it correctly.

they’re lucky to have Scott Satterfield. He’s actually a good coach.
So true.

And if you went back to their meltdown in 2018, and his hiring, their predictions for his first 4 seasons were generally very modest, and realistic.

Let’s be real: if his record (numerically) were exactly what it is, now, but with 2 or 3 wins over U.K., their fan base would be very quiet.

It has been hard for them to digest those 4-6 touchdown beat downs that have been the exclamation mark of 3 of their last 4 of seasons.

Chris Mack is overmatched in the ACC but they’re lucky to have Scott Satterfield. He’s actually a good coach. They could be way worse given the mess left by Bobby Petrino.
Ehh, Satterfield might be decent when it comes to x's and o's, but there's more to being a HC than that and he's failing miserably at recruiting.

With a 61st ranked class, that is hard to argue against.

But the average ACC class this year is 50th, so he isn’t that far off in his conference. Their real problem is they have an SEC rival in-state that is recruiting like an SEC rival should.

Sadly, that's not much below what we are averaging at Rupp this year.

I think he has done well in the portal. As to HS recruits, I think Popeye Williams could be a star on defense. Kid has burst. He would probably have made an outstanding OLB in Stoops’ scheme.

One horse won't win a p5 race. You need to be 2 deep across the board on both sides of the ball to play big boy ball. That's what ul fans never figured out. You can't sit guys for a week or 2 to heal them up for a big game later. You could lose those 2 games if you don't come to play. ul always had a few stars but they never had depth. now they don't have enough stars to cover up the lack of depth with harder schedule.

They have one of the best linemen in the country returning, might be a preseason AA. They have a QB who will break records as a dual threat. They were relatively young last year and did well in the portal. It would seem they will be better next year. Three of their ACC loses last year were one score games.
