Say what you will about Mingione and the season as a whole, but Kentucky did improve a lot over the last month of the season, played great last night against the National no. 1 seed until running out of gas in the 8th and 9th inning. In the end, don't know if we get NCAA bid or not, but feel certain will be no coaching change in the off season.

You have to give Ming some credit for how his team battled to end the season. But at the same time, almost all of the players that played a role in that won’t be here next year. That’s the issue.
That's pretty much the way it is everywhere, just the nature of college baseball.

Almost everyone on this board knew Mingione was back regardless.

And not much of the roster will be left to build upon. Now would be the perfect time for a change imo. As it looks right now, next year will be a struggle regardless.
We are losing a ton of production. Mingione will have to wear out the portal again.

I have been in favor of a change since early in the conference season; however, I have been very impressed with our team in Hoover (and really over the last 3-4 weeks of the season). It's a shame we won't get into hte NCAA (barring a miracle). If Mitch brings Ming back for another year, I would support it but the minimum expectation for next year should be making the tourney (or else).

I think that is highly likely, Barnhart will give Mingione 2023, but makes it clear the team has to show marked improvement, e.g., .500 ball vs. other P5 teams and an NCAA bid, or "he gone".

If he does get another year (which I think is likely at this point) he’s going to have to hit a home run in the portal this off-season to even have a chance at any postseason. Where our roster stands currently for next year is pretty abysmal.

My problem is that this was this year. He needed to show that this year. We finished 12th. That with a roster that was built to win now. He isn't and didn't build for the future. So giving him more time just means he once again must try to scramble to put a team together to win immediately.

Mingione is going to have to pick up several quality kids in the portal. Mingione has backed himself into a corner. As Comebak has stated, the team is built for now. There’s not much for the future. Mingione is going to have to use the portal heavily going forward and that’s not a winning formula.

Mingione might develop into a decent coach down the line but he obviously made too many mistakes at UK. You really have to be a solid coach all around to succeed in the SEC and my opinion he was too green. I know he had a lot of experience but you can be both.

Yea, this is a good point. I just don't think Mitch viewed this year as do or die. i think next year it should be.
