this is the number of foul shots our opponents have shot compared to us the last two games .Maybe the answer is we foul more than the other team. Tennessee hit 30 out of 34. You aren't going to beat many teams if they grt that many free throws and hit them. I will leave it at that .

That's what happens when you have a soft interior and no bench. Our starters get tired, can't stay in front of the ball, are forced to foul and/or other coach has a pulse and understands our bigs are giant pillows and pound it inside.

Free throws had zero to do with these last two losses as they are just the result of our opponents exposing our weaknesses, including coaching.

There is no way that Tennessee should have shot anywhere near that many against us. We were bigger, faster, and stronger and we should not have fouled them so much. I agree that the Kansas game was more of a farce, and that there was some poor officiating in this game, but we had a 21 point lead in this one. We simply blew it.

Part of the problem is refs are calling touch fouls 30' from the basket. These are fouls that had no effect on the play but they get us for 10 of those a game.
The other problem is our guys do stupid things on defense that get them whistled for fouls.
It's not a good mixture.

Maybe it was Coach that told the world that he's going to start playing more physical after getting mugged during the Auburn game, and a front office official took exception to his comments. No idea, but Vegas still owns the NCAA and no one can stop it.

32 of 34 attempts came after we were up 34-13.

That would put them at over a free throw a minute after we got the big lead. Either we have to quit fouling (or getting called for fouls) or it will be hard to win a road game.

Kinda hard to overcome someone shooting 30-34 on ft's. I don't know if someone has it out for Cal or what it is. But it's obvious teams are allowed to play physical with us and we certainly aren't allowed to play the same way. Tennessee is a team with ZERO inside presence but they join the list of teams given a huge advantage of ft's against us.

I think the most obvious was when Poy got clearly fouled and lost the ball and gets called for his 5th trying to block the shot.

[laughing] at someone has it out for Cal.

We foul because we're thin on the interior and have virtually no depth

Friend, don't be afraid to see what you see. This awful officiating is as clear as the nose on your face. This game didn't turn because our guys started playing any differently. The officials began the turn and TN finished the deal with our guys in foul trouble playing tight.

Ok Einstein what does Tennessee have on the interior? This years team in no way can compare to last years front court but it's still light years better than anything Tenessee has. They have no one that can guard Poythress unless of course he's sitting on the bench fouled out because of the usual bogus mystery fouls we always get.

The Cats lose and there are threads on here blaming the officiating. That is new. I have never seen that before.

Here's where 2 of them came from. 4th foul called on Briscoe tonight when he was, uh, jumped on?

Utterly ridiculous and there are plenty more just like it.

We can keep with all the coulda shoulda woulda garbage, but this kind of stuff you really can't do anything about. Did UK play great? Not particularly, but they didn't play all that bad either. UT was hitting shots. Essentially the had 24 points off FT's from the time they started cutting into our lead and until the game was over before the end of game fouling started. By that time they had around 16 points off FTs. You can't beat the whistle. I dare say even if we hit all our FTs and one and ones there is still a very good chance we still lose.

UT got to the line because our guards suck on defense. They spread the floor and went around our guards at will and either got layups, got fouled or kicked it our for wide open 3s. Pretty simple. In the past, weve always had a Davis, WCS, KAT, Noel, in the post so that if our guards got beat off the dribble, it didnt matter because those guys were there protecting the rim. We have 3 schleprock scrubs in the paint protecting the rim.

We dont shoot a lot of free throws because we are perimeter oriented, jump shooting team. Again, a strong post presence gets to the line a lot. I dont need to list the guys, you know who they were. This team doesnt have that. We also only have 1 guard that drives all the way to the rim to draw contact, and unfortunately hes the worst FT shooter in college basketball.

This isnt a conspiracy. Its the freaking makeup of this team which sucks defensively and gets crushed off the bounce and is perimeter oriented on offense with zero players that can score in the post. Good God, now I know why they call this place Rupps RafTARDS.

We're next to last in the league in 3 pointers made so calling us a perimeter oriented team is WRONG. We score most of our points on driving inside and 2nd chance points. Those two things usually lead to drawing fouls for most teams. And I'll concede that Murray gets lost or beat on defense more than he should but to call Briscoe and Ulis poor defenders is wrong again. I've seen plenty of games where they frustrate ball handlers into pushing off because of their pressure. And maybe it's called Rupptards because you're allowed to post here.
