8 Wins

I still think this team gets 8 wins this year. They carry their coach's attitude and we have more talent that we've had in 5 years. The pivotal game is Missou. That will indicate what road this team takes this year. I am just as disappointed as the next fan about Saturday. I was physical sick after that game. That's one the team should have never let get away, but it's over they move on and with our unwavering support. Keep packing the stadium! CMS is building something special!

Even if UK beats Missouri and UL...in addition to the 3 easy games left (and Vandy is not nearly as easy as Charlotte and EKU), that's 7. I can see 8 with a bowl win..no way I'm predicting 8 in the regular season at this point with the O-line issues and QB issues.

I agree with 8 wins. Good post.

We haven't scored a TD in 6 quarters and you think we can win 8 games?

Hard to win if you can't score and hard to score if you can't block, throw or catch.

I think this team is going to find a way to compete with every team on the schedule. And yes that includes Georgia.

Depends on which UGA team shows up, the one who played Vandy, UK can complete and win that game, the one that showed up against USC not so much. Most complete game UGA has played in Richt's 15 years at UGA. Unfortunately we don't do that very often, about once every 20 years it seems. UGA doesn't have the secondary UF has, but has a better pass rush than UF and better LB play.

Agreed, but through all of that we are 2-1 and only lost by 5 to Florida. I like our chances. We have 6 home games left. It's not out of the question. This is a damn good team and I love their fight.

I don't think there is any doubt UK gets to a bowl, barring catastrophe injuries. After seeing a few games this season, I think UK has a realistic ceiling of 8 wins, anything less than 7 would be a surprise.

8 wins? I should pay you for comedy that golden.

Only shot at 8 wins went out the window against UF.

How do you figure it went out the window with the UF game. Vandy, EKU, and UK will be big favorites, AU, UL and Missouri have all looked awful. AU should be 1-2, UL is 0-3, while Missouri is 3-0 they are likely the worst 3-0 team in a P5 conference, if played today the line would be very low and I don't know who would be favored. Only three games I see a stretch is State who is much better than I thought they would be and UGA and UT where there is a huge overall talent difference.

We opened as a 2.5 point favorite this week against Mizzou. Auburn and, to a lesser extent Mississippi State, look beatable. UGA is probably the only game left that we will more than a TD underdog in, so 8 wins certainly looks doable at this point.

I didn't say win. I said compete. I expect us to compete against UGA and I think we have the personnel to do so. Can UGA run us out of the stadium? Of course. They're one of the best teams in the country. I still expect us to compete.

I'm about as down as I could be after the game on Saturday, but the OP isn't nuts. The truth is our schedule has lightened up a bit from what we originally expected. Consider the following:

-The only team remaining that looks as good or better than we originally thought is UGA. And UGA always throws in a clunker or two (this year we catch them after UF and before Aubie, so timing is perfect).

-Auburn is a shell of what we thought they'd be. Throw in the fact that it's a Thursday night and we have a shot.

-UT still has some of the same issues getting over the hump. Very talented team (I'd place them #2 behind UGA on our longest shot wins of the year), but their gameday coaching is suspect (IMO). We also catch them the week after they play Bama so timing is great.

-MSU is beatable, but road game so tough.

-Vandy, EKU, and Charlotte are "should-be wins."

-That leaves Mizzou and UL. I think we absolutely need to win on saturday. Mizzou simply isn't very good and we're at home. We need this game. UL is not good, but a lot can change between now and thanksgiving. Reserving judgment, but again, I think this is a game we should win this year.

Given the above, I think 5 wins are a gimme. 6 should be the minimum expectation at this point. 7 is a good season. 8 is outstanding. More than 8 is gravy, and we're better than I think we are (or our schedule is far worse than expected).

It's all about the next 3 games. Missouri and Auburn haven't looked good at all. We get Auburn on a Thursday night. Win the next 3 and be sitting at 5-1 prior to the tough gauntlet the 3 games after that, and we should get 7, maybe 8 wins. Lose to both Mizzou and Auburn and it's bad. Would probably come down to needing to beat UL just to get that 6th win.

Missouri struggled and struggled mightily against UCON. I watched the majority of that game and they ran the bubble screen to the far side of the field about 75 times it felt like.
I think our secondary has enough speed and can cover good enough to get that screen game shut down.
As for their defense, it was ok. Giving up the 15 yard run to the punter was not cool, but its never cool to let the slowest guy under 300 pounds on your team burn you for 15 and a first down.
Should be a good one. UK needs to find out what the scoreboard looks like when they're the ones lighting it up. They'll be fine.

I think UK will win five to six games. I can't see UK scoring much against a Missouri defense that is perhaps just as good as Florida's defense. So that is looking like a loss. No chance against AU, UT, and UGA. Nor do I see UK winning at Mississippi State, they are a team UK has struggled with in recent years. Other than that I see for sure wins against EKU and Charlotte. Then Vandy and Louisville are toss ups. So UK needs to beat both Vandy and U of L to make a bowl.

I find it hard to believe that UK doesn't have a chance against Auburn considering that Jacksonville St. proved to have a very good chance against Auburn, in Auburn.

What have you seen in AU that leads you to believe UK has zero chance of beating them? They were lucky to hold on to beat an 0-3 UofL, were taken to OT by an FCS school and blown out by LSU. Their qb play has been awful, 5td to 6int. They refused to even attempt to tackle Fournette, look at the gif on Yahoo of Ford's attempt. Injuries are mounting up for them, Lawson out for maybe the season. AU is 2-1, but are lucky they aren't 0-3. I didn't think they were as good as many said they were going to be, turns out they are worse and Johnson is the qb we saw last year who was sacked 2 times and threw an int in his 2 series. Of course all of that could change, but as of right now UK is the better team.

Not ready to call a UK win over Auburn. We haven't beaten them in Lexington since LBJ was president. I definitely think we can be competitive with them and have a chance at the end. Then again, I thought we would play better against UF after they struggled to beat ECU in Gainesville.

I love your optimism but didn't the last nine games give you a little, nagging doubt.
I've seen enough in spurts this year to know what these guys are capable of. We are inconsistent right now and I expect that to change over time. This is program building and we are still in the early stages. Some fans can't accept that. It's instant gratification culture.

Don't pay any attention to him. He is a basketball fan and knows zero about football.

Just hope we can squeeze out 6 wins an get to a bowl... Very concerned by what I have seen in fl.USC in the second half and ull....
