I have done the research and to find a UK football game where UK is ranked higher than #7 and their opponent is ranked higher than #14 (AP) you must go back to 1951 when #6 UK lost at #11 Texas and that is an AP poll fact! Thats 71 years ago my Big Blue Brethren:

So if its the biggest regular season football game in UK history is up for debate. However, the fact that its the highest UK has been ranked and the highest their opponent has been ranked in the AP poll for the same game in 71 yrs. (Circa 1951) is not up for debate.
The fact that both teams are undefeated adds to the historical significance as well.

Oh its big…..

And I’ll argue under all the various circumstances that its the biggest regular season game of all time for UK!

odd requirement for KY to be the higher ranked team.

How about just taking the sum of the two rankings? I bet it isn’t as far back to find a game equaling less than 21. It would still be up there either way as I don’t believe we’ve had a ton of top 15 matchups

Odd requirement? Really? My gosh they will look at the AP poll to generate the “next” set of rankings that ultimately will est. the Final Four teams that will play for the national title!
I promise you and every other detractor on this board that if we beat Ole Miss, which I believe we will (w/CRod and Smoke) that we will go into TN. 7-0 and top 5 in the Nation for the 1st time in nearly 60 yrs. (Circa 1964)!

You may need to double check your reading comprehension.

In your op you said “UK football game where UK is ranked higher than #7 and their opponent is ranked higher than #14 (AP)”.

A matchup where UK was #10 and playing #3 would in fact be a bigger matchup from a rankings standpoint so yes, the requirement of KY being higher than their current ranking (when we’ve only been here once before) is a silly requirement.

As for the OM game, it’s not even the biggest game of this season. It sends a message if we win but we could lose this game on the road and still win the east by winning out. The Tennessee game is the biggest game of the year (prior to Georgia for the East title) bc the UT game will likely decide if the Georgia game is for the SEC East title or not as long as we don’t drop any head scratchers before then.

Who alls going from catspaw? It’ll be my first trip to Oxford. Flying to Memphis from ohare and then getting scooped by a friend.

But Ole Miss plays a 3-2-6 defense with four safeties. They are vulnerable to the run.

Like UK, Tulsa played Northern Illinois earlier this year and averaged 2.9 per carry. They played Ole Miss and averaged 6.1 per carry.
I emailed White and Stoops about implementing my patented 1-3-1-2-3-1 defense but they haven’t responded. Leach and State wouldn’t stand a chance.

I have heard your defense is hard to beat up the middle!

Seriously, to get your play considered, join the QB Club, draw it up on a napkin, fold it up with a ten dollar bill, and slip it to the Coach who speaks that Friday night.

It has worked for me, as I suggested a running play several seasons ago, that I named “off-tackle.”

It has swept college football!!

I once drew up a play and called it “hide the dwarf.” Was a great play that yielded first downs even in long yardage situations. I lost the playbook but I think it has been used a few times to effectiveness. Although some may now call it something different with a more derogatory term.

Look if Ole Miss wins they take what's ours.
They make a run at the playoff not KENTUCKY.

It lets Tennessee in the door. We must win.
We got to stop Ole Miss and Tennessee's program. They could pass us in recruiting.

Kentucky must defend her spot. UK earned it and UK will defend it.

I wish I could play or coach. Cuz I know what this means. You got to play. Play hard.

Bring us their head Coach Stoops.

HH, I came “this close” to calling it wrong, then checked sports reference for 1951 . . . a 7-6 loss in Austin!

This is a pretty big game!!

Oxford is one of the most beautiful college towns in the country, hope you enjoyed it!
