67 points is the Coach Cal win/loss threshold. I think his record when teams score less than 67 points is 999 wins 2 losses or some crazy shytz.
I figure if teams score more than 34 in the 1st half its usually been a bad half based off of Cal's record on 67 or less.
When our guys decide they want to play tough defense, no team in the country is going to score on our guards. These are a tough group of guards and with Ulis leading the bunch, i believe their defense will only get better as the year goes on. Briscoe and Ulis makes for a deadly 1 2 punch in the backcourt on D. I'm surprised Murray is also no slouch when it comes to defense. The thing is, these guys have to want to play D. When they are engaged and on D, we will be tough to beat. When our big guys finally start playing mean inside the paint, our defense as a team will be complete and the total package.
It has a lot to do with our athletic players but Cal's defensive schemes and his yelling are what is mostly responsible for these numbers. I'm not joking about the yelling either, he's on those guys and he yanks them as soon as they blow an assignment.
The best part of those numbers is this is a young team AND the new rules are designed to get scoring up. More foul calls and more possessions. Those are incredible numbers given the facts.
