...UK lost a regular season game (March 8th, 2014 vs Florida).

I know it's kind of an arbitrary stat, but damn. I'd say anyone in the nation would take that for their program... We may only have one loss in the 2015 calendar year. Think about that. Yes, I know all the connotation behind that one loss... but if that doesn't prove we're on a collision course with another national title, I don't know what does.

please don't use that qualifier.
we haven't lost in the regular season since who-cares-when... it just seems to conveniently skip over a loss that matters more than any of the other games in that span. it's not a good look.

update this thread title everyday. This is a record that won't be broken by any future generation of UK basketball.

Oh be quiet. People use these sorts of stats all the time in college football as well.

I think you're being a little harsh here. I understand your sentiment, given the magnitude of that loss. However, I don't see this as any different than reporting on things like home winning streaks, road winning streaks, streaks against ranked opponents, etc.

It's simply one way of slicing the data. Just my two cents though, for however much or little they're worth.

OP, thanks for posting that. I thought it was a cool fact.

thanks OP, hadn't thought of that. Every loss is bad, some are just worse than others.

I bet you're real fun at parties.

I did say in my post that I know what the losses were and the connotation. Yes, they were big losses. However, a stat like this is highly relevant when looking at what Cal is doing on a historical level. Yeah those losses hurt, but man oh man, we are STILL in a place almost no program has ever been.

Yes, Cal could have three or four more titles but for some bad breaks. But titles historically happen once every 12-15 years even for blue bloods. What is means is that everyone blows their chances, it's built into the game. However, we don't have to wait 4-8 years to get another shot, and that's what this stat shows.

You can't expect Cal to defy all history and statistics, but a stat like this shows that he's still damn close to doing so.
