6-9 SF Isaac Has UK in His Top 12

He is so ridiculously skilled for that size. Whatever his ranking was heading into the summer is about to skyrocket. Anyone who yearned for Ingram will drool over this kid.

The wing spot is just so loaded in 2016. Jackson, Tatum, Isaac, Monk, King, Bridges, etc. Good Lord.

Meyer keeps moving this kid up at a lightning rate. He's gone from the 30-50 range to top 10 in 2 months. Meyer has him at 7 now, ahead of Jayson Tatum.

I'll be curious if other scouts follow suit (they haven't yet, and most still have him in 4 star territory). If they do, forget about Isaac being a multi-year prospect.

Don't think there's any chance he's multi-year regardless. At this point, you can see his ceiling. Conservatively, he projects as Nic Batum, and that's a lottery pick. Even if he stays ranked as a four-star, the tools are there and he's far from a secret.

That said, if he doesn't end up consensus top-10 even in that loaded 2016 class, I'd be surprised.

gonna HAVE to land 2-3 PF/Cs since UK will be losing Poythress and Labissiere at a minimum. I'm still counting Wynyard as 2016 until he shows up on UK's campus in December.

I think Isaac plays the 4 for us next season, mainly because the class of 16 is not the strongest for post players.

Lee (I think he comes back) and Wynyard handle the 5 spot.

I'm thinking something like this:

G Ulis(5'9)/Hawkins(6'0)
G Simmons(6'5)/Mulder(6'5)/Floreal(6'4)
G Langford(6'6)/Matthews(6'6)
F Isaac(6'9)/Willis(6'9)
F Lee(6'9)/Wynyard(6'10)

Probably could use another big, but I don't think we add more than one more true post player.

the way everyone gushes over him, I doubt you'll see anyone overtake Josh Jackson.

Jackson is going to be a great player for one year in college. Hopefully it's at Kentucky with Monk/Giles, etc.

If Meyer is right about this--UK just got the best SF in the class. Saw that kid play 2 games and he was best player on floor--and Gary Trent who is a lot of people's #1 SG in class of '17 couldn't handle Isaac's length, athleticism, or skill. He did this after having back spasms.

Again--he'll NEVER be a PF. He's not strong enough--but he's an elite SF. Think Brandon Ingram frame.

It will be interesting to see if Jackson tries to go straight into the NBA draft. He turns 19 in February, so he's got the age thing covered. It would come down to technicalities about the rule, whether attending a "Prep School" is the same as a HS, and what, exactly, "graduating class" means. There are some interesting potential loopholes in how the NBA draft rules are written, because it's not as clear-cut as "19 years old in the year of the draft". Thon Maker could be another case like this, since he's apparently only going to play 1 semester in college. It's easy to assume he's eligible for the draft, but if he doesn't graduate HS until after June, then is he really 19 AND one year removed from his graduating class (which is what the rule is right now)?

yea but none of em as early and seriously as Jackson. I'm skeptical of it also, but if a player isn't gonna qualify academically he's kinda limited on his choices. Mudiay wasn't cut it with grades, neither was Brandon Jennings.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but has Jackson himself mentioned any of this? The only talk I've seen of him going overseas or not playing is from people on this board. I do remember an article a while back talking to other top kids from the '15 class about possibly going overseas, but I don't remember him being asked. Unless Jackson's grades are completely terrible he will likely be able to get in somewhere. Wasn't Mudiay's biggest problem the coursework not getting accepted because of Prime Prep being a super shady school (and now gone). The kid that went to Florida State went there as well and he was ineligible his freshman year.
