Dane Key appears to have won a starting job. There is talk that Deone Walker might start. From what the coaches say, Alex Afari, Barion Brown, and Josh Kattus are having a good camp. The top freshman in the program is Goodwin. He practiced in the spring, and I think it is just a matter of time until he starts at Otackle.
Some people in the 2023 recruiting thread want to go back to the old tired "rankings don't matter, stars don't matter, trust our coaches evaluations, underrated diamonds in the rough!!!".
Well, just look. 2022 highest ranked class ever, consensus top 13, 14. And - Surprise! - great, talented, highly ranked recruits will be on the field, immediately, this season. Going past guys who weren't high ranked recruits.
It is why me & just a few others are so alarmed about 23 recruiting presently. Talent matters! Talent proves out! Still time in the calendar to get some more top 250 guys for 23 like these 22 kids who were ready to play & win, NOW.
