5* PF Matthew Hurt plans visit.

He seems to be a perfect duke player, which I'm sure is where he will visit beige uk somehow since they stay up our ass on every recruit

Love this kid's game. He can score from all over the court. High bball IQ, willing defender, inside out scorer. Knows how to set up his defender.

I believe his parents are both Louisville grads, fwiw.

I know the taboo is not to compare white players to white players but he legit looks and plays like TJ Leaf from the small sample sizes I can find on the internet, so until otherwise I'd say that's a compliment. Not because he's white, but because he's a highly skilled 6'9 forward who relies on technique more than athleticism who can also hit an open 3. For comparison though, the below highlights are of a sophomore TJ Leaf and a sophomore Matt Hurt. Eerily similar in my book.

I say sign him up. I would have loved to have a TJ leaf on our team last year to pair with someone like Bam.

Hurt looks like a slightly better athlete than Leaf, which probably accounts for his higher rating at this point than Leaf's was at the same point. Whether he translates into the same kind of shooter at the college level will be seen.

Gordon Hayward also comes to mind.

Hurt could be what Cal hoped he was getting with Wiltjer (but didn't, really, because of Wiltjer's lack of ability to move his feet), or an upgraded version of Derek Willis- better overall skills, more aggressiveness.

And yeah, all white guys comparisons, but so what? It basically just means Hurt looks like a hybrid 3/4 with shooting ability who mainly plays facing the basket.

Pretty much. At 16, most kids haven't really reached their athletic limits. Guys like Zion Williamson are rare, but most guys keep increasing in agility and vertical leap all through high school. Leaf ended up being a remarkable athlete and this kid looks to be on a similar path where guys like Wiltjer were never going to out quick someone. I mean hell, this kid passes to himself at the 1:33 mark. Now that's speed...

:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Didn't catch that the first time I watched. But yeah, any team can use a guy who can block a shot, bring the ball up the court, then hit himself for a corner 3. That's a pretty special skill.
