54/168 for 32% the last 12 games of the SEC season.

Is anyone surprised we have had so many blah games from three? I can't quite figure it out. We have 4 pretty capable shooters in Andrew, Aaron, Ulis and Booker. This team can shoot it and shoot it great as we have seen in several games starting from the UNC game through the Vandy game. UK hit 65/144 in that 8 game stretch for 45%!

That said, 8 games out of 31 is about 25% of the regular season so was that stretch just fool's gold for UK from 3? I like to say no, as once again I believe we have solid to good shooters (including a great one in Booker if he is on). Now 45% is high regardless, and not realistic, but if not for a couple of solid games in the 12 game stretch, UK would probably be below 30% in that stretch as there were a couple of 6/13 and 7/15 games in there that they shot really well from three.

I am not concerned that much as UK is a team that could literally not shoot 1 three pointer a game and still probably beat most teams this year IMO. Hitting 3's at a solid clip per game will make UK even more unbeatable though IMO.

Think about this if we hit no 3's today against Florida we STILL win by 11. This teams strength is not the 3 ball but they hit a few just to make the other teams defense honest. Our strength is defense and on the inside.

I am not worried we will make them when it matters . I wouldnt be shocked if Booker over the last 9 games goes something like 16-25 from 3 and aaron and Andrew combine to go around 25-54 in that time span . You just know Aaron will find his stroke and Booker is the stroke if you know what i mean . Ulis will get a few as well.

I agree. We do not have to shoot a lot, and they didn't today. 2/6 is fine if you can still win by 17 with relative ease.

I think if they are wide open, we should take them...if not, attack inside and get it inside.

I suspect we will hit a lot of 3's in the NCAAT as other teams play a packed-in zone against us, and try to double-team Towns and WCS down low. I expect many wide-open looks. We will hit enough.

Good points. I have to give the SEC opponents kudos...they are not giving UK a TON of great open 3 point looks.

Aaron is the one I'm worrying about. Booker and Ulis can be relied on when they're open.

All season we've showed patience expecting his 3-ball to come around, and it never has. He's shooting 28% from deep. He's going to get looks all tourney, we need him to make those.

because if Kentucky makes three, there's no chance for any team.

So they are doing better job defending the three point shooter.

But it's not just about making them either. The fact that they are stretching the defense is good enough.

I don't think we have been taking as good of shots overall from 3 lately. We've had some teams that are getting out on our shooters better and we are forcing a lot of them. When we are shooting them real well we are getting penetration and causing the defenses to collapse leaving someone open. We were knocking those down. I also think we did well hitting threes in transition. We need to work harder on getting other's open for good looks from 3.

if you are an opposing coach who has never played UK and are tasked with problem of trying to beat a team with NO weaknesses, (not a wonderful problem to have by the way), you are going to take your chances and force Kentucky to beat you from the perimeter.

This is just a no-brainer. NOBODY has bigs who can guard ours without getting into serious foul trouble, so coaches from OUTSIDE the SEC are going to opt for packed-in zones and hope we don't light it up.

I guarantee that Booker and Aaron will be our MVPs of the tourney.
