I've never had confidence in Kentucky playing a 3-4 defense in the SEC. Traditionally, UK gets destroyed, where run defense is concerned. Any success we've had the past 20 years has been when he have very explosive offenses - we never shut folks down.

Bama has the personnel to play a 3-4 in the SEC, we don't. We don't have depth at LB, and we're playing 4?

We certainly have an issue with outside containment.

It probably can't hurt when we get 2 of our starting linebackers back. Fair to say?

I certainly hope so, unless Spurrier is an idiot like last year he will read option the heck out of our lbers.

Won't matter IMHO who returns because you can't put squares in round holes. UK does not have the quickness to be a run stoping team.

Or our 3 true freshmen linebackers, Ware, Allen, and Jones were all getting confused. That might have something to do with it. When they get experience, they will make the correct reads. Jeez.

For us he has been an idiot twice so here's hoping he goes for three, lol.

I remember in 2012 Tennessee hired Sal Sunseri who switched the Vols to a 3-4 defense. They were the worst defense in the conference because they simply didn't have the personnel to run the 3-4. In the NFL many (maybe most) teams moved to a 3-4, but I noticed this past offseason several teams switch back to a 4-3. Either has pros and cons, but as long as the personnel is in place it should be fine. Just can't fit a round peg in a square hole.

Yea we have always sucked in a 3-4 historically. Well heck we usually suck on D, period. But looking at this year's roster I thought it was completely asinine to go to a 3-4 but Stoops knows a heck of a lot more than I do so I trusted he was doing the right thing. After that first game disaster I'm not so sure what to think. We will get shredded on D this year.
