2023 Early Mock Draft has Will Levis going Top 10

He and UK would have to have a huge year for this to happen. That’s not a negative post just looking at the QB competition next year and the fact that it’s gonna be another draft loaded with lineman and defenders that would be a major major rise for him …. I’d love to see it

That's a hundred dollars lost.
no doubt it is a gamble
most gambles are

the guy that put that money on Lamar Jackson to win it took a big gamble and it paid off
Jackson was not a Heisman candidate before the season started

Before the start of the college football season, one fan put $100 on Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson to win the Heisman Trophy.

It was a wise bet. Jackson entered the season as a +5000 underdog, but as of Nov. 14, he was the overwhelming favorite at -5000, according to OddsShark.

The ACC Player of the Year has scored five-plus total touchdowns in five different games this year.

On Friday, the fan sold the ticket for $8,500. If Jackson wins, the ticket is worth $10,100.

Wasn't there an article a few weeks back where he was ranked 7th QB in SEC? If so, somebody way off.

Yes there was.

He was behind Bryce Young, Stetson Bennett ( o_O ), Miss St QB, Texas AM QB...who was LSU QB last year, Tenn QB, Ole Miss brand new QB, etc.. It was an assclown list for sure.

So in other word's the same old tired crap from the so called media...

I'd take these with a grain of salt, but its nice to see a UK QB get some love. 247 released a early 2023 mock and he wasn't on there, but if he has a good year, he could make himself one of the top QB's in the draft.

Well he's now been top 10 on at least 3-4 mock drafts including PFF at #8.

The hype is real. He has incredible arm talent. Athletic with enough wheels to hurt a defense. His accuracy ticked up and the INT's went down the 2nd half of last season.

We have seen much crazier breakout seasons recently. Burrow, Wilson, etc that weren't on the radar at this point and were top 2 picks. Levis is on the radar. Whether he takes enough of a leap to realize that potential is anyone's guess but the potential is real.

Big arm, accurate and mobile to the tune of yards after first contact. He checks some boxes.
Accuracy is not a checked box. Thats probably the biggest area of concern. If he can become more accurate and do a better job going through his progressions, he is definitely a potential first rounder. If he climbs into the top ten, he might become the best UK quarterback ever. But he’s definitely not there yet.

i have been thinking of putting a 100 dollars on him winning the Heisman
not sure what the odds are but they gotta be huge
Throw some money on Buffalo winning the Super Bowl while you are at it. They are loaded and had a strong draft, including "The Punt God" from San Diego State. He will be pinning opposing teams deep inside their 20 yard line all game.

I don’t get it. I am as big a UK fan as anyone, but I don’t get it.
What's not to get? He has all the tools and just needs to tweak his technique to improve his accuracy a bit and show he's more comfortable in the pocket/working his reads which typically comes in the second year of a system. If he is marginally better, say 20+ TDs and less than 10 interceptions, then he'll lock in a top 10 pick.

This is a great post. In my opinion, part of the accuracy issue was just inexperience — the newness of being a first time college starter, a new system, new receivers, etc.. Then consider arm strength. Remember early on, all those missed crossing patterns, because the timing was off. Same with several long balls. All because, IMO, Will doesn’t realize how strong his arm is and how quick his release is. Once he figures all this out, his potential is through the roof.

He’s a less talented version of josh Allen. Their game plays the same. Big arm, tough runner, great athlete. I hope he takes a big step forward this year. Decision and accuracy was lacking

I said he would go first round last season. People laughed. He has every single thing you would want.

6'3
230+ lbs
Sub 4.75 speed
Arm strength
He will have close to 40 games played in the Big Ten and SEC

The comp to Josh Allen is not crazy.
Levis and Anthony Richardson will be physical freaks that the 2022 QB class did not have.

Josh Allen

I think it's the perfect comp. Of course that doesn't mean he's as good because that's not what a comp is about.

All these reasons listed is why I was also concerned he might come out this past draft. That QB class was awful and I could definitely see someone taking a flyer on him round 2 or 3. Pure guess but imo without nil he probably would've came out last year

We are lucky he didn't leave. This was a very weak QB class and his workouts alone would of vaulted him to one of the first QB's selected.

He came in for fall camp as a first year starter. Learning a new offense and having to fix mechanical issues. As the year went on the accuracy improved and the turnovers went way down.

He clearly showed the arm talent and athleticism. In the spring game he showed the accuracy to go with it.

During our pro day all the NFL scouts saw him make all the throws and were very impressed. That's why you see him in the top 10 of all these mock drafts.

Guys like McShay talk to NFL scouts and GM's to guage where the prospects are and mock them accordingly. So Levis being top 10 is legitimately where they see him right now.

Now obviously a lot can and will change over the course of the next year. Levis will need to show that promise during the season to end up there. But he is currently positioned to be picked high.

He explored coming out prior to our pro day and didn't like the feedback enough to come out.

Had he done so after the pro day I think the feedback would have been much different and we may well have lost him. Though he probably wouldn't have gone round 1 anyway.

He now has a legit chance to go top 10 or even top 3-5 if he has a great year. So I think even in a stronger 23 class he made the right decision.

Even if he is "just" a 3rd rounder, that will mean the best QB play for UK since 1998

I'm talking about punter and FG kicker
Our FG kicker is returning and he's the most accurate in UK history and our only scholarship punter, the Aussie, who was brought in as Max Duffy's replacement. He's an Aussie rules pro and only a back injury kept him from starting last year. I would suggest that our kickers, maybe other than QB and RB, is the position room that least needs your concern.

I think decision making is his kryptonite but it was also the first time he's taken that many snaps at this level. When the play was there and he made the correct read, he did a good job of getting the ball to his receivers. His completion percentage of 66% is better than any of these guys.

Specifics can be lost in the forest of games and seasons.

Go to YouTube and enter “Will Levis highlights.

He has played one season, but has lots of highlights.

He looked as credible as did any QB against UGA between the hedges, and had a late game rally on New Year’s Day against a ranked Iowa team with a stingy defense.

And you don't need a punter if you score a TD every time you have the ball !!
