I know it's super early, but I'm watching Kansas play Texas Tech and it made me remember Chris Fisher said on Twitter that it had been confirmed that Kansas would be UK's SEC/Big 12 opponent again next year. I don't remember hearing about that before, but anyway it got me thinking next season UK will play 3 of the 5 true blue bloods (1 is UK of course). I guess you could count Indiana as a 6th blue blood if you wanted. But I thought it would be cool if UK could play Duke next season since they will play UCLA, Kansas, and North Carolina. On top of playing Michigan State and Louisville, two more top ten programs.

I hadn't seen that confirmation. I know Kansas played Florida home and away the first two years of the Big12/SEC Challenge, it makes sense that we go to Rupp next year. Great road trip. Expensive.

If we host KU, then we will play two of the top four teams next season, IMHO.

KU, Duke, MSU, and UK should be the top four teams next season.

We play MSU in the Champions Classic and hopefully get KU in Rupp.

I'm not sure how good UNC and UCLA will be, but they will likely be pretty good challenges as well.

Plus UofL on the road. They will be tough at the Bucket.

Might be another year with early losses due to being so young, but preparing us for a deep tourney run.

People will lose their minds if we lose early with possibly the greatest class ever. Wash rinse repeat.

And again, who cares.

We've got a bit over 1/3 of THIS season left. What's with all of the "next season" post. They've run their course IMO.

If Kansas loses Perry Ellis, Diallo, and Wayne Seldon which I think is likely and doesn't land Bolden or Allen which also appears likely they won't be top 4.

Heard that UK is trying to set up a game with the Harlem Globetrotters at Barclays

KU is going to be pretty bad next year and UL , who won't have a coach or any good players left will be 10 win bad IMO. Also UNC will lose a ton and isn't adding anything good. So we play alot of big names but they will be down. Now MSU will be the 2nd best team behind us so that will be a war.

Kansas may not lose their two freshmen. UNC loses Paige and Johnson, but if they return everyone else they should be decent. They also bring in two top 40 players.

Meh, I guess but I'm not so sure KU will be that bad. Top 25 but I don't expect them to be top 5. UofL will suck because of no coach and sanctions. I also think Josh Jackson either goes Arizona or plays overseas a year. Making MSU a fringe top 10. No info of course just a guess. I do agre it will be a war regardless.

Not trying to be a jerk or anything....but even if Grayson Allen declares for the draft if Giles can play at the beginning of the season next year Duke is the clear #2 and possibly even #1 depending on if we get Bolden or Skal comes back.

It would be cool to play a nuteral, home and away game each year with those three teams.
Example
2016 Michigan State, Champions at nuteral site, Kansas at home Duke away
2017 Kansas nuteral, Duke home, Michigan State away
2018 Duke nuteral site, Michigan State home, Kansas away.

KU is going to be pretty bad next year

KU hasn't been "bad" once in the Self era. People say this every year and KU will be going for another Big 12 title. Losing Perry is huge but Bragg will take over for him and he's going to be fantastic. KU will still have their two point guards with tons of experience and if Selden jumps Svi and Greene will play the 3. It's not a recipe for an improved KU team over this year but it will still be top 15. I'm not saying KU would beat you guys next year but it's dumb at this point to ever assume KU will be bad.

KU's probable starters (IMHO):

G Mason(5'10 SR)
G Graham(6'2 JR)
G Greene(6'6 SR)
F Bragg(6'9 SO)
F Lucas(6'10 SR)

Should have Mykhailiuk and Vick off the bench.

That is a veteran team with a great backcourt. They will be thin up front. If they add Allen or Bolden or Diallo comes back, then that will solve that problem. I think they likely either get Diallo back or add Allen.

UofL probable starters (IMHO):

G Snider(6'0 JR)
G Hicks(6'2 SR)
G Mitchell(6'3 SO)
F Spalding(6'9 SO)
F Onuaku(6'10 JR)

They should have Mathiang, Stockman, and Mahmoud back inside giving them a ton of functional, though mediocre, big men. Johnson and Adel should be also be back. They add a talented Freshman wing in V.J. King as well.

Should be a very deep squad with some experience. Typical Pitino squad with lots of good players, but no bona fide stars. Should be a top 25 squad.

Like with UNC, the biggest question for me concerning UofL is the NCAA investigation and whether they are in any trouble or not.

Pitino won't be coaching that team though.

And I agree with others that KU won't ever be bad under Self. He is consistent at having good records, just not at winning big games in March much.
