Wow, we were terrible. Was watching the SEC tournament, against UGA last night, and I was astounded with all the standing around we did.
Bradley would bring it up the court, and the others would just stand on the perimeter with hands on the knees just standing there. Same on defense....zero intensity. Our perimeter defense would just stand there and let the offense feel comfy as can be.

As aggressive as BCG was in practices, you would think his players would put forth lots of effort. Reminded me of high school ball.

If any of you guys are feeling questionable about this years team; go watch a game in 2008. Your head will spin.

Consider this: That was the final game of the SEC tournament and was delayed due to storms, etc. Then, after all that, we had 5 players play 37, 44, 44, 45 and 45 minutes!! Georgia, on the other hand, had one player play 40 but nobody else played more than 33 minutes.

Due to some key injuries and horrible recruiting, that team lacked a lot of depth. Just glad that era ended quickly.

The Drunk was my introduction to UK basketball. I came in as an out of state kid with no idea what UK basketball really meat. My fraternity big sat me down one night to set me straight and I've been on the train ever since, even though my first ever Rupp experience (my first ever game as a UK fan) was that VMI loss.

I remember senior night against UG. during a time out BG had the 5 guys standing in a huddle. he was saying something then PPAT slung his head back and I think in a irritating way said come on man.

I just remember seeing that even back then. BG of course was looking up at him, but had a look of surprise on his face. if I remember right I think they had just made a run and UGA called a time out. so I'm guessing it was some more of BGs BS and Pat had just had enough.

Worst years ever as a Kentucky fan. Listening to the people on here try and justify and convince themselves (myself included) that it wasn't that bad was embarrassing and I remember actually getting excited to see our name as the 11th seed and drove to Anaheim for our first round game.

2008 was brutal and it didn't take long to see how much we sucked

Losses to
Gardner Webb
San Diego
UAB
Houston
Vanderbilt 41 point loss
Indiana 20 point loss

Thank God the SEC sucked that year or it would have been worse.

I also remember in 2009, for the first time ever hoping we lose simply just to get the season over with. I'll never be one of these fans that gets excited or even bothers to care about a NIT game. I don't know how anyone else did either.

Oh, and how many damn walk-ons did we have under Billy? I remember Cal even being taken back by that.

Even now it still hurts. Thank God he didn't last any longer than he did.

i knew it was over at the start of the following season after we lost to VMI followed up by getting crushed by UNC. knew it wasnt going to work.

Be sure and thank Mitch for the rigorous vetting he did in that hiring process.

Can't argue with this, but I'll also give him credit for hitting it out of park with his next hire. Great time for BBN.

Even with a lack of talent, BCG starting Cory and Porter over some of the others was enough to show that he was crazy.

1. How could anyone not know how bad BCG was?
2. Why would any UK fan say to himself "Gee golly, I wanna watch the 2008 UGA/UK game from the SEC Tourney!!!"

I've mentioned it before but it bears repeating - we have only lost at home 64 times since Rupp Arena opened in 1976 and BCG lost 10 of those games. In just two years. Horrible.

I'm trying to find each coaches record at Rupp. Any luck? I know Cal has lost 4, BCG 10 (in 2 years LOL), so that still leaves 50 between Pitino, Sutton, Tubby and Hall.

That's what Kentucky gets letting an outside firm do the hiring, anytime this University needs to hire a coach, it needs to be done by our people, I'm sure some of our administration agreed with it, but we need to keep it in house when it has to do with our coaches.

Then Mitch took the list they gave him and stayed in his house for around a week and wouldn't let anyone near him while he "did his job". He even stated he didn't get out of his robe. That was told to me personally by MB.

He's a joke, and the only reason we keep him is because he works so cheap. Thank God Cal got him out of all basketball decision making processes.

I can see some good reasons to hire an outside firm. Afterall, it isn't exactly a good thing for an AD to be on the phone calling up Donovan, Izzo, or Smart and saying, "We are interested in you. Are you interested in us?"

But, having said that, this firm was incompetent and so was Mitch for hiring the guy.

Cal was not hired by MB.

Just wanted to add that. I'm not tryin to dig it up but MB was never in favor of cal. He was forced to make the hire.

I just want to corrct the record when someone is unaware of this.

I am okay with that, to be honest. I respect a leader who has strong opinions but also will give in to the right powers. It worked out well and Mitch gets the public credit regardless of what went down behind closed doors.

Mitch hired a search firm for $20k to find Billy. Great bang for your buck.

I've given you published quotes from Cal, Pratt and Lee Todd refuting this, and have asked repeatedly for some proof other than your opinion. Argument by assertion, I believe it's called. "Trust me, I know the truth" is all you got. You can't "correct the record" with an opinion.

Mich Barnhart is paid to make proper hires and oversee athletics. when you remove Calipari from his resume, he's worthless. I've watched him completely destroy my favorite football team making bonehead hires he ready knew were probably bad. We host 26 UK football season package for as long as I can remember. It might be coming to an end.

You might approve of 1 good hire in his tenure here (Brooks barely), but those of us who want it badly aren't satisfied. Gonna have to disagree with ya here preach. You're spinning.

I'm not interested in article fluff. I've explained my position. If you don't like it, fine

hahaha so basically, you think what you wanna think, and I'll think what's right. lol

My position has been explained and really I shouldn't have said what I said. If you don't like my position, eat it and spit it out. I'm not going off of wishes and fluff articles that make you feel good.

For the record, I was ONLY talking about the Cal hire and NOTHING else. I think we probably mostly agree. If he truly felt that Cal wasn't the best hire, I am okay with that. At least he did allow it to happen.

From what we've read about BCG they probably wanted that season over with as soon as possible. They wanted to get the hell away from that drunk.

When the tornado hit the Dome I think that was God, who is a UK fan by the way, saying dont bring that garbage into the dome and thus forced UK to play in front of friends and family the next day.
