I was at the game.
In the Kentucky section, we had a few Hog fans, and I conversed with them throughout.
Raphael and Dixon got hurt, and a Hog fan asked me who was up next. I told him a true frosh from Oklahoma, “and he only knows one play . . . everyone blocks right, and the QB pitches back to him left.”
Locke came in and took that first left pitch 12 yards IIRC.
A physical game. We sent both of Arkansas speedy backs to the locker room after hits. We were down to Dereck Lock on our last 3 drives.
With 8:30 on the Clock, up maybe one point, we get sacked in the end zone, giving up a safety and a one point deficit. We free kick to one of their speedsters who goes the distance and with 7/8 minutes to go trail by 8.
We then rattle off 21 points to win by 13.
Those last 8:00 minutes were a showcase of offensive efficiency by Kentucky, and desperation by Arkansas. I do not remember Woodson throwing an incompletion, and Locke abused a tired defense.
When we took a modest lead with like 4:00 to go, I turned to speak to my new Hog friends. They had quietly left the game.
