1966 National Championship game

I just realized this year is the 50th anniversary of the UK-UTEP championship game.
Why haven't we honored Rupp's Runts yet?

Still amazed that Rupp nearly won a National Championship starting 5 white guys against an all black starting line-up. Shows you how good of a coach he was.

Its more amazing because the Runts were very short for the time.
They made up for their height difficulties with great ball handling.

Rupp actually said in an documentary I watched, "If the 66' team had won I was ready to make a speech how this was the greatest team to ever be put on the court."

66 was the year I was born. My Mom was pregnant with me when UK lost to Western and she said her and Grandpa cried and cried after the game.

She said that game is when I became a UK fan
