Final record was 40-120, widely acknowledged as the worst MLB team of all time.

Can the Reds do it? They are off to a blazing start, and records were made to be broken.

If Cincy was in the West, playing the Dodgers-Giants-Padres a bunch of games, I swear to God they would have a chance. About 20 years ago or so, the Tigers were just pathetic, and had an outside chance to win less than 40 games for most of the season, it can be done . . .

PS: 2003 was the year, just looked it up, Detroit was 43-119 , only won 47 games in 2019

Already the worst start in franchise history. Why not go for the gusto and finish it off while we're writing history with the worst record in MLB of all-time. At least those '03 Tigers weren't the laughing stock too long. Detroit made the run to World Series in 2006 and only 2 losing seasons over the next decade. The Reds haven't won a playoff series since 1995. Setting records we don't want much like a team 75 miles south...

Casey Stengal famously said: "Can anybody here play this game?"

Watching a pop up fall to the ground at the pitcher's mound while 4 Reds stood and watched in Sunday's game was embarrassing.

Definitely was and they have made Robert Stephenson look like the Rolaids relief man of the year when he pitches against us now. That half assed swing on the first pitch by Moustakas just sums it all up. It's one thing to be young or just not talented. Another when you are just lazy.

This is officially the worst start in Cincinnati Reds history.

Some relevant stats:
The worst winning percentage for a season was the 1899 Cleveland Spiders (20-134.....0.129%) Reds are currently on pace to finish 2nd all time to that mark.

The worst start to a MLB season is the 1988 Baltimore Orioles at 0-22 before finally getting getting a win against the White Sox. The Reds have officially set the 2nd worst mark of all time with our 3-19 record through 22 games.

The Reds have only lost 100 games once ever. 1982. That was the from first to worst year, for those of you old enough to have been around (I was born the year after in 83.)

The Reds have lost 94+ games only 13 times in franchise history. If we meet that mark this year, it will mean 5 of the 14 seasons will have been since 2015. That's disgraceful.

The only silver lining, if you want to call it that, Is they have likely played the toughest opening stretch of games of any team in baseball. Has anyone played a tougher opening month? Now that's no excuse for only winning 3 damn games, but I was under no delusion they were going to come out of the opening month with any sort of hope.

In fairness the amount of injuries and guys weve had off and on the IL has probably set a record for the month of April. It's definitely THE reason we have been so bad. We haven't had our actual starting roster on the field ONCE this year.

Now does that mean we were going to contend for the Central with everyone 100%? No. I think I had us around 75 wins for the year on paper. There's just no way that's happening now of course. And none of this excuses the Castellini's or Nick Krall's idiocy. You've got to have depth and a contingency plan, which we clearly have neither.

But it is fair to be honest that we are this bad specifically because of the IL issues.

Seems like they lead the league in injuries every year. This year, it's just plain stupid. Something has to be up with the training staff and conditioning program. That and they keep bringing in injury prone players. Too much shoulder soreness, hamstring injuries, Obliques. India will probably be out a month or more trying to get his hammy straightened out after going back on the IL. That will probably linger all season long. I give Minor three starts when he comes back before he goes back on the IL. How long will Lodolo be out? nobody knows. Greene's velocity is already fading a bit. he'll be on the IL himself before too long I'm sure.

You may be on to something there with the training and conditioning staff in place. Just another link in the overall incompetence this organization from top to bottom. 3-19 is awful and you have to try hard to be that awful and that's exactly what this organization does gutting talent, signing the wrong players to huge contracts and lack of development once guys reach the MLB level. I lean on the lack of talent and injuries to key players more than the schedule which has been tough, sure but being swept 2-0 at home by Cleveland the 1st sweep by Colorado since 2010..Should've mustered up more than 1 win there.

Absolutely. they like to use the shortened spring training as an excuse,, other teams aren't putting 12 guys on IL out the gate. And guys are damn sure putting in work on their own time. So I don't buy that junk for a second
