#1, #3, and #8 all go down on the road tonight

well - hopefully, this means if not Kentucky (winning the NCAAT), then we hope it's some random team no one expects
I always root for Kentucky and against history when the tournament rolls around.

Sounds like you subscribe to the same strategy.

If not Kentucky, I'd be excited to see Providence win - they don't have nearly the same stars by their names (except Dunn), but their roster isn't too far a cry from one of those recent UCONN champs.

Winning road conference games is hard y'all.
Yes.

And people display a huge level of historical ignorance about it.

The teams in the FF last year had a combined 18 losses entering that FF weekend. Of those 18, 8 were conference road games (and 2 were conference tournament games).

In 2014, the 4 teams had 27 losses entering the FF. 11 were conference road games (and 3 were conference tournament games).

In 2013, the 4 teams had 29 losses entering the FF. 14 were conference road games (and 3 were conference tournament games).

In 2012, the 4 teams had 24 losses entering the FF. 9 were conference road games (and 3 were conference tournament games).

In 2011, the 4 teams had 37 losses entering the FF. 19 were conference road games (1 was a conference tournament game).

In the last 5 years, the 20 teams that have made the FF have combined for a conference road record of 118-61. Overall record (including all NCAA tourney games)- 634-148.

This year is completely wide open. Haven't a clue who will win it or be in the final four at this point. The tournament should be pretty entertaining at least.

It may be wide open but you can already count on an early Villanova flameout.[winking]

Road games are tough of course. Not sure that is news. But, it also depends upon whom you are playing. Kansas losing to a top 20 ranked West Virginia isn't shocking, as were a few of the other losses. But, ultimately, it isn't always about losing but how you play. The LSU game for Kentucky was predicted by many earlier this year to be a loss. But, the way we played and lost is way more significant.

Also, I take no comfort in posts about how others may be having a tough time.

True, but at the same time I was surprised at the way WVU won. If you were able to watch the game they were pretty much up 8-14 points the whole game. It wasn't really that competitive, and Kansas was never really in it. I was expecting KU to have a close loss, but they were pretty much dominated from start to finish and their offense looked pretty bad.
