I’m not entirely sure Cal knows where he was yesterday. All his feeble mental energy is focused entirely on being a sheister.
When the same team does the exact same thing to you twice…I would argue you were yourselves.
100% and he had all year to work on a zone, a box and 1, a Triangle and 2. Press someone well, try anything different and he won’t and doesn’t even try. That’s why we can’t be consistent. We score plenty enough every game out to win.
Several weeks ago we were “built for March”, and now “we’re the youngest team in the country and the physical play affects us more”. 🤷♂️

We all witnessed what his old top assistant did as a head coach. He was around Cal for 12 years and he’s the worst prepared D1 coach I’ve ever seen. That tells me everything I need to know. Same BS, we need to fight! These guys don’t listen to me. We are close! It’s gonna take some time. Well Cal you have 4 more days. Let’s hope it’s enough time to teach them something.

Well he can prepare them for the NBA while doing it in college though. I’m sure many pros played at least a zone in college.

Next weekend will be "we are young" again. That is true, but that also means that we cannot have a team of freshmen and ever expect to achieve any "traditional" UK goals ever again. And anyone thinking that any players of significance will be back next season is just fooling themselves.
We’ve known for awhile our half court and interior D as awful. The way you counter that is to play pressure on the perimeter and know a team will have a hard time beating you if they don’t make 3s.
Use your speed and size to your advantage and pressure the first 3/4 of the court or middle 1/2 w one rim protector waiting as the “free safety”. If they pull it out into a half court set, then don’t help off and guard the perimeter…make them make one on one layups consistently enough to beat our 90+. Sure, you’ll give up an easy layup here and there but we are doing that anyways. But when you give one up, the players are strung out the full length of the floor and it’s wayyy easier to inbound quick, pass ahead and turn it into a track race were we will win in the open floor 99% of the time. MAKE THEM PLAY YOUR TEMPO. Instead we just play the physical half court game if a team wants to and hope we can score enough and 2 of reeves, Reed, dilly go off.
Thats why while I think we could out run Purdue and run Edey to death, let him get 30+ but shut down everyone else…. I don’t think that’s the approach we’d take. I think we’d try to win a 60-75 paced game…play half court…double down on Edey and give up a bunch of open 3s while Edey still gets 20+
Exactly what I stated in a post last week. He’s Kenny Payne with the ability to recruit. But his coaching and preparation is the same. It’s why no one from his coaching tree is worth a crap.
We play bad defensively like we have the majority of the season and rely on freshman players to battle against upperclassmen that are on a bubble team and are willing to go to war to keep their season alive. Hard to win ball games that way.

Is any of us gonna be surprised when we go down in a week or so... it's always the same shit year after year. I probably just shake my head laugh and go outside under the sunshine. Loser coach rubs off on his team and makes the loser vibes contagious. 1 and 5 in the last 6 sec tournament games. That's pathetic and all kinds of other words I can't put in here. Leave Cal please for the luv of God give this job to someone who deserves it.
