‘21 schedule

I think they've just recently decided to do a full schedule. So, they may still be putting things together now that they know they'll have a full OOC schedule.
Have not double checked but I think I just got an email about my ticket order

I'm excited for this baseball season again. I was getting into the season before COVID shut things down and hopefully they can put a full season together.

Not sure what the schedule will look like yet (but I bet it is released very soon), but looking at the D1Baseball top 25 it looks like UK could very well face the following ranked teams (definite opponents in bold):

Florida (1)
Vanderbilt (4)
Louisville (5)

Ole Miss (6)
Miss. State (7)
Arkansas (8)
LSU (12)
South Carolina (18)
Tennessee (19)

Auburn (23)

Other services rank Georgia as high as 12th and Indiana as high as 14th.

Obviously, you play 10 opponents in the league with 6 of those being from the East. That leaves UK playing 4 games against West teams.

So, UK will face 5 opponents from the East that are ranked by at least 1 major baseball publication, and UK could face upwards of 4 opponents from the West that are ranked. Only Missouri, Texas A&M, Alabama and Kentucky are unranked in the league.

UK cannot sleep on those unranked teams, if we play them. Alabama finished last year with a 16-1 record and with an RPI ranked 3rd in the country. Their SOS was ranked 45th, so they weren't exactly a pushover. Texas A&M was 15-3 a year ago with an RPI ranked 13th. Missouri was one spot ahead of UK in the RPI at 87 with an 11-5 record. Missouri and UK have had a little rivalry brewing over the years, so I am excited for that series.

All around, things don't look like they will be easy for UK, and they never are in the SEC.

Kentucky Baseball Releases 2021 SEC Schedule

The Wildcats open league play at home for first time since 2012 as part of traditional 30-game conference slate

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky baseball team will play a daunting 10-series, 30-game Southeastern Conference schedule this spring featuring 24 games against opponents that are ranked in preseason Top 25 polls, the league announced Tuesday.

UK coach Nick Mingione will appear on LEX-18’s “BBN Tonight” on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. ET to discuss the schedule and preview the 2021 season.

The non-conference schedule will be announced at a later date. Fans should be aware that the COVID-19 pandemic does create schedule changes, so for the most up-to-date information throughout the season, Big Blue Nation is asked to check UKathletics.com and follow Kentucky Baseball on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for updated information.

The Wildcats will open the 2021 conference gauntlet at home for the first time since the 2012 season, hosting Missouri at Kentucky Proud Park on March 19-21, and close the slate at Vanderbilt, the 2019 national champions, May 20-22 in Nashville.

Following the opening series vs. Missouri the Cats will travel to Auburn (March 26-28) and Mississippi State (April 1-3) before returning home to face LSU (April 9-11). The Cats also will host Alabama (April 30-May 2), preseason No. 1-ranked Florida (May 7-9) and South Carolina (May 14-16). Additional road trips include Georgia (April 16-18) and Tennessee (April 30-May 2).

For fans interested in purchasing tickets to home games, the University of Kentucky will release information on updated attendance protocols for the 2021 UK Baseball season at a later date.

The Cats are entering their fifth season under head coach Nick Mingione and have won 114 games during his tenure, including 11 during the 2020 season shortened by the Covid-19 pandemic. The 2021 club is led by 2020 National co-Freshman of the Year John Rhodes, 2021 preseason All-Americans T.J. Collett and Austin Schultz, as well as an experienced lineup and deep pitching staff.

Thanks @Jeff Drummond

So, there we have it... UK will face upwards of 8 SEC opponents that are ranked in at least 1 poll this pre-season.

We get Missouri at home weekend number 1. That should be fun. UK and Missouri have a budding rivalry with some bad blood. The series has been a little chippy with both teams not afraid to try to show the other one up.

I assume the 2 game Louisville series will remain on schedule as well

It normally would, but I am not sure that they have established the OOC schedule fully yet. I think they are navigating the fact that some other conferences are playing different schedules and not playing a normal year.

Kentucky baseball will open the 2021 season February 19th from today against UNC in Chapel Hill.

Thats the only non-conference game listed and its a month before conference. Could be incomplete though.

Yep. They are still working on the rest of it. I imagine they will have it out fairly soon.

I am soooooo ready for baseball season. Can't wait to hear the games on the radio. I didn't make any games last season.

Weather and Covid protocols will dictate whether I go to any games this season. I'm done whining about Covid...I'm fine with the masks but I honestly do not feel like sitting at games wearing one when I can hang out at the house, grill or smoke meat, drink, and listen and chill. It's damn hard to beat a spring afternoon on the deck with the sun out and cold beer in hand and BatCats on the radio. Same for the Reds.

Im so antsy to get out and do something...ANYTHING, I'll go to a few weekend games for sure. Haven't done anything other than go to work or out to the Legacy Trail since the UK Mizzou football game, and hardly did anything all year prior to that. Spring fever is gonna be real. I expect capacity, whatever it is, at the ballpark.

I either have the games on the radio in the car or on SECN+ on the big screen at home. That’s what I enjoy about ⚾ In the spring. Hopefully we’ll have a good team and that we can get the whole season in this year.

I think that gives us 54 games on the schedule. 12 OOC weekend games, 30 SEC games, and 12 midweek games. Typically there are 56 games in a season. So, we're still looking to possibly add two more. Wouldn't be surprised if UK is looking to get someone like Indiana on board for a game or two.
