We CERTAINLY won't be complaining about the defensive this year, it would appear. The first two guys we have on board have a combined FOUR conference DPOY awards and are both seasoned veterans who will set the tone. Offensive firepower will now be the big question, but I feel good knowing that our defensive floor is already extremely high and I can already hear the crowd at Rupp getting loud for some swarming defense. It was a ton of fun to watch the shooting of last year's team, but almost equally frustrating to watch teams score against us at will.
Coach Pope now has a good base to build around and can feel good freely adding a few guys who are more scoring focused. Side note - it makes me feel even better about these guys that they weren't afraid to be the first ones to say yes and take the opportunity in front of them. I like that. Thoughts?
