Let's get some waaaay-too-early-to-tell speculation going.

For (completely irrelevant) reference:

Coach Rupp (1930 - 1931)
15 - 3 (83%)
8 - 2 Southern (4th)

Coach Hall (1972 - 1973)
20 - 8 (71%)
14 - 4 SEC (1st)
SEC Coach of the Year
Elite Eight

Coach Sutton (1985 - 1986)
32 - 4 (89%)
17 - 1 SEC (1st)
SEC Tournament Champ
SEC Coach of the Year
Elite Eight

Coach Pitino (1989 - 1990)
14 - 14 (50%)
10 - 8 SEC (T - 4th)
SEC Coach of the Year

Coach Pitino (1991 - 1992), first eligible season at UK
29 - 7 (81%)
12 - 4 SEC East (1st)
SEC Tournament Champ
Elite Eight

Coach Smith (1997 - 1998)
35 - 4 (90%)
14 - 2 SEC (1st)
SEC Tournament Champ
SEC Coach of the Year
NCAA Championship #7

Coach Gillispie (2007 - 2008)
18 - 13 (58%)
12 - 4 SEC East (2nd)
SEC Coach of the Year
Round of 64

Coach Cal (2009 - 2010)
35 - 3 (92%)
14 - 2 SEC East (1st)
SEC Tournament Champ
SEC Coach of the Year
Elite Eight

Cal tier the last four years: 20 wins per season. 80 wins total. Two total tournament wins, counting SEC tourney.

So if Pope tops that, he'll already be doing better than Calipari did the last four years on average.

I think Pope probably matches, exceeds or comes close to matching Cal's best season since 2019, which was only 26 games (2022).

Let's all remember that Cal enormously sucked it up for the last half-decade here. That should be the first point in any thread where we compare Pope to Cal.
