I've seen people talking about Kentucky being better than the product on the court the past few years. But how accurate is that sentiment. I think people have a sensationalized view of this program's history.

Kentucky basketball has existed for 121 years and only has 8 Championships and 17 Final Fours. There's been far more disappointing seasons in program history than successful seasons. Recent history even before Cal has been even worse. Four Championships since 1958.

We're currently on an 11 year Championship drought, which is only the 3rd longest drought for the program since 1958. We went 20 years from '58 to '78 and then 18 years from '78 to '96. One Championship in 38 years. Cal's personal 11 year Championship drought isn't even the longest by a coach in program history. The great Adolf Rupp ended his career on a 14 year drought.

People talk about the double digit loss seasons. We lost double digit games in a season in 7 out of 10 seasons before Cal was hired.

We haven't been what people picture UK basketball as for a while. Long before these last few years and long before Cal.
