Just spoke with same folks I heard from yesterday. They say things have moved very quickly. As reported here, they targeted Hurley. That was kind of a prerequisite of the $$$ backers who will end up paying this new coach's salary. They wanted to, at the very least, approach the current top coach in college basketball. They were either rejected or did not think the timetable would work out if Hurley wasn't immediately interested.

Billy Donovan proved to be problematic from the standpoint of being able to put together a roster when he would become available. If the timing was different, that could have played out a different way. If things don't progress as quickly as we believe, he could still be in the mix.

Scott Drew is a guy they liked all along and placed on that top tier line with the first two guys, and the financial guys are A-OK with Mitch Barnhart moving on to him. I'm told, however, that he's not on this plane that everyone has been tracking. Unsure about the timetable with him.

The Crafts very much like the direction this is heading, and NIL is about to get a big boost.
