Hey all. I’m back on campus for today’s practice at the JCFTC. We’re about halfway through camp, which seems to be speeding by at a breakneck pace. It’s defense day, so we’ll be chatting with DC Matt House, assistant coaches and players on that side of the ball.

Stay tuned. I’ll update this post with all the major notes and tidbits at approx Noon ET.

* Good day, per House. More focus than they’ve had.

* Next scrimmage will tell a lot, House said. It wasn’t that the last one was bad, but they just expected more.

* Looking for energy guys (Josh, Kash, Darius) to set the tone Saturday.

* Scripting has helped the staff test certain guys to see what exactly they’re capable of handling, what they need to work on.

* Very short session today. Getting House to speak at length about any player right now is like pulling teeth. We’ll try to milk a bit more from the assistant coaches.

* Coach Clinkscale says they feel really good about what the corners have shown in this camp. He feels like they have “three really good ones” in Baity, Johnson and Westry. Those guys have stepped up their every day performance from last year, bringing it more consistently. Also likes what he’s seeing from some of the young guys behind them.

* Clink says Robinson and Griffin have established themselves as the 2s at safety behind Edwards and West. Both of those guys need to play a lot this year to (A) spell the starters a bit and keep them stronger into November; and (B) get some more experience for 2019 when they’ll have to step into bigger roles. Corker and Ajian are also doing well, he said, and will get some opps to play this season.
