Before anything else here's a quick update on the Kentucky players who are still in action tonight.

QB Mac Jones (2017)
Second round playoff game v Raines
Notes: Raines defeated Bolles 35-30 on Oct. 30 for the district title. Bolles is 9-2 on the year.

RB Michael Warren & OL/DL James Hudson (2017)
Third round playoff game v Benedictine
Notes: Quarterfinals of the Division III Ohio state playoffs. Benedictine won the season-opener 35-23.

LB Kash Daniel
Quarterfinal playoff game against Paris
Notes: Paintsville defeated Raceland 20-15 last round in their closest game since a 23-22 win over Pikeville in early September. Paintsville is 12-0 this year.

DB Tobias Gilliam
Quarterfinal playoff game against Hilliard Davidson (Saturday)
Notes: Wayne is 12-0. Defeated Springboro 52-21 last round. 22 points is the most that Wayne has allowed this year. No close games since early September win over Archbishop Moeller.

DB Jordan Griffin
Second round playoff game against Carrollton
Notes: Jonesboro is 10-1 and defeated Thomas County Central 17-14 last week. Their games have been much closer than Gilliam's and Daniel's.
Stats: Griffin has 50 receptions for 672 yards (13.4) and six touchdowns as a receiver. Has 15 tackles, 2 INT, forced fumble, recovered fumble.

WR Dakota Holtzclaw
Quarterfinal playoff game against Perry
Notes: Kilbourne is 11-1 with four straight wins.

WR Zy'Aire Hughes
Quarterfinal playoff game against Central Hardin.
Notes: McCracken County is 9-2 on the year.

OL Landon Young & QB Walker Wood
Quarterfinal playoff game against Scott County

DT Kobe Smith
Second round playoff game against McEachern.
Notes: Archer is 10-1 with their only loss coming against Grayson early in the season

LB Roland Walder
Quarterfinal playoff game against Wapakoneta
Notes: Trotwood-Madison has won four straight games and is 9-3 on the season. Walder is expected to visit UK for the Cats' game against Charlotte.

TE Charles Reeves
Quarterfinal playoff game against Johnstown-Monroe (Saturday)
Notes: Steubenville is 11-0 and hasn't given up more than eight points in any of their last five games.

In case you missed it.....

Here's a list of (many of) the commitments who are expected to visit Kentucky this weekend.

Again, the Louisville list is where things should really be interesting. Already we know that Tate Leavitt, Jaylin Bannerman and Seth Dawkins will be visiting. Leavitt's already taken his official visit so it's an unofficial for him. Getting Bannerman and Dawkins on campus at the same time was by design.

2016 Overview

At last check Kentucky was still looking to take four more players from the 2016 class. I could be wrong about this but I think a very strong way to end the class would be: DE/LB Jordan Bonner, DE/DT KaDerrion Mason, WR Seth Dawkins, DB Carlos Becker.

Emmit Gooden
likes Mississippi State, no doubt, but he also likes Kentucky.

As for whether current commitments are solid, I don't think much has changed in that regard. I do think there are schools who, in a few cases, are trying to capitalize on UK's recent struggles. Guys like Tobias Gilliam, Roland Walder, Jordan Griffin, etc., have probably been hearing more from other schools, although there's no indication at this point that any of them are wavering. Worst case scenario UK is looking for backup options in the case of a late flip or two, but I couldn't tell you if even that's going to happen, so that's a good sign. Would certainly help a ton if UK could win the last couple of games with Drew Barker at the helm.

Still hearing good things about Kentucky's chances with Jedrick Wills, Javonte Richardson, Tyrell Ajian and Trace Christian, a few of their top targets from the 2017 class that have not yet committed.
