Being retired, with way too much time on my hands, and after the recent completion of the regional track and field finals in Kentucky, I thought a small comparison with Florida high school track results might be of interest. Here goes: first, Florida is about 4.51 times more populous than Kentucky (year end 2014). Florida kids participate in Four (4) divisions whereas Kentucky kids compete in three (3). I chose to compare one event, i. e., Boys One Hundred Meter dash. Through the regionals in Kentucky, seven (7) kids ran under 11.0 in this event. Conversely, Florida had a total of thirty-seven (37) kids run under this mark but this is through their state meet finals.

For you math whizzes out there this strikes me as a fairly favorable comparison for the KY kids. What say you?
