Some Lanier smoke?

If we do, then we almost certainly will lose Brae or Oweh. I'm not saying don't do it, just that we wouldn't be going from 9 to 11, but rather from 9 to 10. There are only 80 minutes at the 2 & 3. Even if you assume the 3 FR get none of them (they'll at least get a few), that is 80min you would try to split between Lanier, Robinson, Brae and Oweh. Whoever is at the bottom of that pecking order getting <20mpg wouldn't be happy.

We need one "Dude" at the 3 or 2, and we need a backup for the 4.
Where are we going to lose them to ? Are they going to quit ? Because they sure as hell can't transfer. Oweh and Brea are Cats and BOTH knew the roster building structure before they signed up for it. They knew they was not getting 30 minutes, Brea did not start at Dayton, he knows he is not getting 30 per, nobody will. It is called roster balance,,, and depth.

Seems to me that for two weeks straight everyone was clamoring for Lanier and he was the flavor of the month on this board. Then he averages 5 points for the elite squad and no one wants him. I’d be beyond excited to get the kid. Those combine/elite games are glorified all-star games. Put him in a game setting with an actual offense run and he will be great.

I want to remind people that during the McDonald's All American game, both Wagner and Bradshaw looked rather good. Reed passed well but was an overall non-factor. We all see how that turned out.

I guess Robinson is out.
If those 2 commit he would have to be wouldn’t he. My preference would be get Lanier and Robinson and have Lamanor wait until robinson tells you what he is doing but that isn’t realistic I don’t think

I still very much want him here, he is a guarneteed 10-20 points every night

Seems to me possible that Lanier really wants to sign with Pope, and not with Tennessee, so the Lanier family is putting out the "NIL he can't refuse ..." line as a cover, to mitigate against the hate-mail that Lanier might otherwise receive from the UT crazies. I would think that NIL agreements routinely contain confidentiality clauses that have serious penalties for disclosing the terms of the NIL agreement.
Just a thought.
Go 'Cats ! ! !
LOL, rather than go create and concoct a long drawn out, fabricated story, to me it would be a hell of a lot easier to just not open any mail he receives from the state of TN ? No ? I really do not think Lanier GAF what UT fans think if he doesn't transfer there. Have they ever beat up or caused serious bodily harm to a recruit who spurned them ? I mean IF he was that thin skinned, I couldn't imagine him ever playing on the road in a hostile environment. Pretty sure he has heard a hell of a lot worse from opposing fans in their arena than a "UT fan" might say to him in a letter.

10-20 ? Pretty wide range you cast there, kind of resembles some of these insiders trying to protect their "accuracy" predictions. I to would venture to guess Lanier would average between 10-20 per night. But just to be safe, I am going with 5-20. After all, I am 122/122 in predicting what players who aren't currently on the roster would average if they actually did end up on the roster.

Just busting your balls a little.
But 10-20 is a little too wide.

I agree and would hope so; it could really hurt team chemistry if some players found out other players of equal or lesser ability were getting a lot more money. But it seems we are hearing how much money some players are getting so maybe that's not the case. Just like if you work in an office somewhere it can cause problems if workers know each other's salaries.

The reports seemed to demonstrate Poplar had the better showing, but may Poplar has other plans or is not as good a fit.
Neither got an invite to the NBA combine. They participated in the G-League Elite camp in hopes of getting an invite to Chicago. Neither got one, so,,,,,,, Next two pieces Poplar / Lanier then hopefully Robinson. Robinson I do not think has been "mocked" for the NBA draft. If so, late, very late and we all know SOMEBODY is losing a spot because Bronny will steal someone's earned spot. That is a totally different gripe all together.

Not a fan of Lebron, and IF he forces the Lakers to WASTE a pick on his son JUST to be able to fake play on the same team (Bronny will NOT get any kind of significant minutes), when they need actual players to help, I will dislike him even more. And I know the Lakers can chose NOT to adhere to Lebron, BUT then you risk losing him. Which IF I was the Lakers front office, MAYBE it is time. Trade Lebron, get salary cap flexibility or land 2 really solid guys. Father time WILL catch up to even Lebron, the time is now, let him leave and take Bronny's weak ass game with him.

It is all relative. An NIL offer for a player who presently has zero chance playing professional ball in the United States next season does not have to be $2MM (like Great is rumored to have received). It just needs to beat the offer from ut-knoxville (plus he has to know no one looks good in that hideous orange).

Might cost us Oweh ("Oklahoma Guy"), but if it does we are still upgrading the position. Hope not though!

Add Chaz and a backup PF and this team becomes real balanced (shooters, scorers, and defensive specialists) and pretty deep. Love when a team can beat you from a different spot on the floor based on matchups every night. Heck, we might even have enough balance and experience to execute an inbounds play!

You also have two top 5 3 point shooters when it comes to percentage. Brea was #1 last season and Lanier was #5.

Lanier was also top 10 in 3 pointers made with 3.3 a game.
We'd also have a good spot up three shooter and a great overall great 3 point shooter a the point, a good 3 point shooter at the four, another good 3 point shooter first off the bench in Oweh, and 3 pure sharpshooters on the bench in Perry, Noah, and Chandler. I love it!

It depends what you're trying to forecast. For example Reeves last year only had one game in single digits all season, so you could say you can expect 10-30 from his every night, projecting your floor. But on average he scored 20ppg. If Lanier can fill the Reeves role (I think that's asking too much of a mid-major transfer in year 1 but this is just hypothetical), you might say we can assume 10-25 points from him, but expect an average of about 17ppg. But I get your point too.

Yea, Lanier was quite literally the most efficient player in college basketball.

Would be a monster addition.

Particularly when you look at the other names on that list. Basically, nothing but All Americans.
Yes but at what level of talent did he do that against?

If we don’t get Robinson then maybe Pope can land Wooga and Chaz. Still possible that Jaxson returns but a lot of people think he will stay in the draft
I’d love to get Wooga and Chaz. Wooga had played big time ball at the guard. He would slot in nicely.

I don’t think we need another guard after Lanier.

We have Butler & Kriisa at PG, Chandler, Perry, Brea, Oweh, Noah, plus Lanier filling out the SG, SF positions. (Before someone hyperventilates, that’s not a depth chart listing, just names off the top of my head). I like to think that Chandler, Brea, Oweh and possibly Noah are big enough to play a college SF role, especially in this day & time of small ball basketball

We need another big, preferably a good backup PF. After that, fill the roster out anyway you want. Keep adding quality SG/SF types and someone might decommit.

I was gonna say 15-20 but I felt 10 would be safer

Espn has him going late in the second round.

Yeah I said if he was mocked it would be late second. Which at the point, teams can and do go way off script. The last 5-10 picks is when you hear the names of people ESPN doesn't even have highlights on, lol. You are like "WHO" ? when they call a player drafted name. If I am Robinson, if I do not have a guarantee in place, I would not risk it. He needs to get his name out there more, UK is the place to do that.

What I’m loving most is if we get Lanier he will be more effective here. Pope will lie awake nights constantly thinking of new ways to set him up even better to succeed. Gone are the days of having two or three of the biggest guns in the country on our roster just so they can compete to see who’s ineffective because he’s double-teamed and who’s ineffective because he’s stuck on the bench.
