I used to send out letters over email with this stuff.

I think if upper management would have ever seen it, I would have probably been at the top by now.

Is it really 10 times more deadly? Really? You only know that based on the numbers being reported. If you factored in everybody who’s either got it now but don’t give a shit because it’s just a little cough, or because you already had it back in December before all this came out. I post the rates of death on here occasionally based on the public data, but I’m well aware there’s plenty of people out there who may have it who will never get tested which would bring the rates of death down to where it’s more in line with the flu.

Agreed. The only thing I really have confidence in is the gross number of "Covid related deaths." Any percentage, etc is based on flawed data.

I’m also shocked at how soon airlines have to be bailed out. i thought these big companies could tread water longer than this.
Because these giant companies know the GoP will orgasm at the thought of being allowed to shower them in corporate socialism. Why would they do anything but pretend they desperately need it.

That's not what a straw man is; a straw man involves misrepresentation of your opponents' argument (something you do all the time) to something similar which is more easily or obviously refuted.

What he is doing is asking you to apply the same standards to your party as you do the one you oppose, which is also something you people are never willing to do. That's just a different argument, not a straw man argument.

In other words, "whataboutism" isn't a straw man... it's just diversion.
God you're an idiot. I know exactly what a straw-man argument is and that is exactly why I called it out. You don't know what you're talking about because you can't even conceive why I called it out. What A DA.

Like Howie Long said, "You think you know but you don't know."

Paradigm shift

Apples to oranges. In the energy world it’s used all the time. Horrible.

Based on the past month, social distancing and flatten the curve can be added to that list.

“Stay in your lane” is a big one used around our office.

Added granular / granularity to the list.

Like Howie Long said, "You think you know but you don't know."

No, you don't know what it is, even with sum total of human knowledge at your finger tips. What you called out was not a straw man argument, it was not a fallacy of any sort.

Here's another word of the day for you, steel man argument which is presenting your opponents' position in the best manner possible. I could do so, make your leftist argument, better than you and I could do so without personal attacks. In fact, I could troll this board so hard you'd think I was the smartest poster to ever post on the Catpaw because it would agree with you entirely but lack the delusions and ad hominem attacks you use to sustain your worldview and self-image.

The only person that can save yourself from you is you yourself. You first have to entertain the possibility that you are wrong if you are ever going to be able to figure out why you are wrong and what is right.

Goodluck.

The lefties here watch a guy with dementia bumble and drool on himself, and they find that appealing enough to elect him as leader of their resistance.

They’re never going to be able to comprehend facts, and the fact Trump didn’t call the virus a hoax.

Our best bet at this point is just to stand by the polling places on Election Day and throw tennis balls onto the highway for the lefties to chase.
Or just tell the righties to stay home and pray for the re-election of their Cheeto Messiah instead of going to the polls . . . a lot of them would bite on that being more effective than actually voting.

You only know the death rate of flu because of those "reported numbers". It is the same with every disease. Not everyone is tested and not all cases and deaths are ever know. People a lot ****ing smarter than you know how to take data and model out probabilities. The world is almost at a million cases now which is a pretty good sample size. The best guess at a standardize death rate atm based on the data is .7% - 1.5%. flu is less than .1%. Based only on confirmed cases the US is currently at 1.9%. I think when the dust settles it will end up hovering around 1% which is very deadly for an extremely contagious virus.

Thats me with “at the end of the day.”
"I hate to break it to you" is another one for me. I tend to have a bad filter when it comes to me telling someone how I feel about what they're doing. And for some reason like subconsciously I just think me starting it off with "I hate to break it to you" makes whatever I say okay to say haha.

Whether its something pointless and simple around the house or with my girl, or if its something major like Im telling a guy he needs to redo a weeks worth of code because its just not up to snuff. I always lead with "I hate to break it to you" and I tend to end the conversation with "It is what it is" haha.

At the end of the day, we’re all in this together. Contrary to popular belief, we need to be good partners and burn the candle at both ends for the foreseeable future. If that means multiple deep dive sessions to provide more granularity, then it is what it is.

A week ago the virus had killed approximately 200 Americans, we have now eclipsed 3000 dead Americans due to this virus.

After all this how is the left going to be able to sell a guy (including to themselves):

-that wants open borders (and put kids in cages)
-wants to raise taxes
-does not want MFA
-has been credibly accused of sexual assault
-obviously is suffering from dementia
-has praised China
-voted for Iraq, opposed the OBL raid
None of that matters. For them, hatred of Trump..... Trumps everything. Luckily though I think most independents will stay away from him.

I’ve been away from religion since my 12 years of catholic school were up, but I don’t think that’s how anyone thinks prayer works.

I don’t know though. You lefties tend to support more faith based government fantasy programs like socialism, taxes to defeat global warming, etc.

Jesus your a dipshit. You only know the death rate of flu because of those "reported numbers". It is the same with every disease. Not everyone is tested and not all cases and deaths are ever know. Nah, you don't know that for any certainty, doesn't matter how much smarter these people are than you. And if you understood better how those "people a lot ****ing smarter than you" got to where they got with the data, you would understand there is absolutely no basis whatsoever to say "when the dust settles it will end up hovering around 1%" other than as speculative as .1%.

Here's a decent conversation with one of those people if you have to defer thinking to a higher authority, he's just as qualified if not more than anyone. People who understand both the science and the economics tend to think that, on balance of probability, the economic lives cost will be worse, given what we know now, and I fear they may be right. Good thing we aren't socialist or the lives lost would be worse.

Jeez man lighten up. One of the truly head scratching things about Trump supporters is that they simply refuse to accept any type of joke about the guy without losing their god damn minds. Grow a sense of humor man. You could joke about by dead father and I wouldn't get as upset as you guys do about DJT. Weird.
I get where you are coming from. There's plenty to laugh at Trump about. I'm old enough to remember when we all made fun of all politicians regardless of party. SNL was actually funny back then. But Obama came along and people were afraid to pick on him because he is black. And now you have Trump who is crucified for EVERYTHING he does. It's made those on the right a little sensitive and defensive for sure. Personally, I'd love for all of us to get back to the days of making fun of politicians. Most of them are pretty useless anyway. But now instead of it being us vs them, it's more like Louisville vs Kentucky and fans have to cheer on their party no matter what.

You know why they held it, but it doesn’t fit your argument.

Spare us the fake health concerns, that’s an excuse. Massie wanted them to follow the Constitution with the quorum.
If there’s enough people for a quorum, then take their vote on record.

It isn’t controversial, yet for some reason you’re digging in like he wanted to hold the bill up for a month.
They didn’t want to go on record, either side, and now they aren’t. Best of both worlds for them.

Why does it upset you so much that Massie wanted them to vote? It makes no sense, especially for something as important as this bill, and the vote never happened.
This is all bound up in your mind. You can't cite a bit of evidence of your conspiracy plot. All you got is unsupported supposition. The outcome was known & Massie was being a dick. Just who else said they voted no by voice? Who supported Massie outside this thread? I ain't sparing you nothing. Surprised you didn't trot out troll routine again.

Are you really stupid enough to vote for Biden? Or think he would be a good president?
Their hatred of Trump drives their vote. I doubt there is a person on earth they would not support over Trump. .

When a political party is willing to run a poor sick man with dementia, one who is deteriorating so fast he will not know he is president if he wins, that says it all.

Cruise ships that aren’t registered under the US flag shouldn’t be bailed out.
Shouldn't allowed to dock either. OR if they do, held as collateral for the costs they & their passengers incur including medical bills. Of course those ships may not be worth more than scrap metal down the road.

Understandable with regards to the whole Hurricane Maria fiasco but to blame DT for the current situation is asinine. Sure he could've acted quicker but Covid-19 was going to kill thousands whether he acted in Feb or March.
The main issue is the same media and lunatics blaming him for the current situation that we are in were humming a much different tune back in January saying it was racist and an overreaction in regards to Trump’s China travel ban. And none of them are blaming China for this while they lied and suppressed important information about the virus’ severity as far back as November.
