Pitino lands another one

Not me. Pitino’s a coach who is obviously eager to cement his legacy as one of the greatest ever, rather than the only coach to ever have a title vacated.

Meanwhile Cal has been resting on his laurels since 2015.
Gonna have to push then. Can't imagine he's gonna coach more than 5 years more. But he's back in his home area so who knows?

How soon you forgive. He left you. He killed a baby. He coached our most hated rival. He gave you the finger, and you still hug his nuts.
"Most hated rival" as in that irrelevant city school that got on your nerves in the 1980s and gave you a spurned lover syndrome when Pitino left Boston for them?

"Most hated rival" as in the team that's we've dominated for about the last 30 years, the team who is only taken seriously within Kentucky by a very number of UK fans? That team?

The slobbing on St John’s mediocre roster is hilarious. If that’s what Cal was rolling out every person on here would lose their damned minds.

Pitino has a roster built to compete in today's college basketball. Cal has a roster that is unproven for today's college game and built on NBA draft potential. That's the difference.

You don’t know that.

Why couldn’t he? FAU and SDSU were buckets away from a title.

He can win one at St John’s. I’d even argue they’re perfectly suited to succeed in “this” version of college basketball.

No they weren't. Uconn slaughtered sdsu and would have beaten fau worse. You probably think Duke almost beat unlv in 1990 too.

Its extremely unlikely he wins one. He hasn't won a legit one in almost 30 years.

To be fair cheating is allowed now so his hookers strategy may work.

You're missing the point.

There are no expectations at St. John's. They haven't landed a top 50 recruit in over a decade until Pitino did it today. So, in a matter of months, Pitino has taken a program with no expectations and inserted new life into that program. They will likely not only make the tournament this year, but also have a real shot at surviving past the first weekend.

Meanwhile Calipari, who is coaching the program with the most expectations in the nation, has taken that program and led it to win single tournament win in three seasons.

Pitino will also be making 1/3 of what Calipari is making from a salary perspective.

So, let's review, @JFCats22 :

St. John's = no expectations + Pitino = excitement and a high probability of exceeding expectations.

Kentucky = high expectations + Calipari = no excitement and a very low probability of meeting those expectations.

Cow cant coach the kids Rick can. Cow cant win with No 1 recruiting class year in and year out. Give Rick what Cows has since he got here and Ricks needs all ten fingers for the rings he would have. Had Rick stayed at UK we would have 17 titles. Same as Bama in football.

Yep sure did. He won a title in 2013 and messed up his career all on his dime. Got another chance at Iona and done a good job at that school and now is at St Johns. What he did after he left UK is on him but while at UK he was one of if not the best in the game. To deny otherwise shows incompetence.

Nah. But you might be. There's no one more bipolar than you on this message board when it comes to berating our players in the game threads.

Maybe this year you can take it easy in the game threads. What do you say, little buddy?

There’s nothing he can do to cement himself even top 10 best ever. He’s not him. He isn’t even the best to ever coach at UK or UL. Both have had better than him.

He has 1 championship, 27 years ago. The last time he won a championship, internet had only been out a few years, it was before cell phones and the Nintendo 64 was the hottest console out.

No better testament on how much Cal is loathed than this right here and deservedly so. Thank you!!!!
