It is totally the decision of the head football coach who he wants to hire. He is responsible for the program - not the fans. It is up to him to get the best guy for "his" program. Some of us seem to think we, the fans, get to decide or even have input on who the head coach should hire. We have a lot of fun and create a lot of excitement on this board making our desires known - but everyone should realize - that is all the fans get - a chance to speak and make our thoughts known.
If the football program is not headed in the direction UK wants it to be headed, it is up to the AD to make that call - along with the President and ultimate approval of the board of trustees. Once a coach is hired we should all get behind him and support the coaches and team as much as possible. The fans do have a profound interest and influence on who the head coach is - but no other coaches in reality! The fans ability as to who is to be the coach is clearly due to one thing - their pocket books. We have seen the fans power in getting a change made in the major sports programs. Until the fans make it known with their pocket books things will not change and we are saying we are happy with the direction of the program.
We are a family - and we can criticize our family all we want - because we care about our family! But like a family - we also defend our family from attacks from others. Its now time to act like who we are - "The Big Blue Family".
