I'm glad Cal is back and common sense prevailed. But now what?

First measure, who's coming back?
Hopefully we can get 3 of (DJ, Reed, Big Z, Bradshaw, and Onyenso) back. If we can get 4. Amazing. If we can get all 5, I might have a seizure.

Next up, what's with the staff?
Can we get Kenny back?

Third, get these kids to work. Fortunately with the class we have coming in, we do have some kids that look like they have the defensive potential. Somto is a beast. And Richmond looks like he can be molded into a Liggins type defender. We need bullies and assholes. I like the nice smiling, happy kids too. But we need players that want to rip your head off. Now whether that's DJ finding his voice. Or Bradshaw hitting the weights and becoming a killer, I don't know what it is. But I want that back.

Hit up the transfer portal too, but it's always hit or miss. For every Reid Travis or Nate Sestina we get, we land a CJ Frederick or Tre Mitchell.

Then let's go get #9 and put the team where it needs it to be.

I assume we have an announced transfer or two leaving by the beginning of next week. I would also think staff firings come soon to send a message.

I should've already been there.

But back to getting this team to succeed, instead of the constant bedwetting you do here.
Oh, I get it. We were supposed to have combined our super energies on this board to help this team win more than two sec/ncaa tournament games since 2019? Is it kind of like the Care Bear stare?

From left to right, the "Cal Pal Care Bears", using their collective "fan happiness" to ensure we make it past the first weekend!

  1. Secure Reed Sheppard & as many other players on the roster as possible
  2. Recruit wings and physicality out of the portal
  3. Make a play for Liam McNeely
  4. Bruiser Flint. I don't know if you're the problem, but you've probably gotta go. Replace Bruiser with elite assistant.
  5. Get NIL in line and adjust it to success in 2024. This applies regardless of the coach

You say he does the bed wetting but ignore the fact that for the last four years cal has done the bedshitting.

That is also true. Now we have to get it back on track. All the pissing and moaning won't do that.

I love all of that. I would definitely make a play for McNeely and maybe Peja's son too.

Since we’re stuck with this mess, turnover the staff minus Ulis and Welch; let them be the offensive guys. Don’t bring in any of Cal’s buddies, including Payne. Get this NIL in order and try and get some returnees. Give the guys a hard deadline on making a decision. Hit the portal to get the best team players, if it hurts the feelings of the incoming freshman so be it. Try and put the best team on the floor. Then hope and pray this crap somehow works out.

Whatever your vice of choice is, load up on it for next season.

Well no.
But that would've been slightly more helpful than a daily circle jerk hoping to the team fails, Cal gets fired, and we find ***insert coach who has never won or will not come here because of the fanbase***.

Another thing that applies to any coaching staff, we have to figure out the portal. It's obvious it's not like it used to be. We have to use being Kentucky to our advantage and create the organization that draws the elite transfers in the portal. The reality is that any returning player is a free agent. They should be treated as such.

I don't know about getting rid of Chin and Orlando. We do land recruits. And that is a large part of this puzzle.

Oh good, this must mean AD comes back for a sophomore season and an NBA lockout means several more draft picks will stay another year. Yay for #9!

That's the only way it will happen under Cal.

It's surreal that you can go 80-46 in four seasons with a losing season, two first round exits to 14 and 15 seeds, a 2nd round loss, and exactly one SEC tourney game win at Kentucky and still keep your job. But I also saw people advocating for Gillispie the day of him being fired.

Mitch just cares about money. He will be totally fine with mediocrity.

Same as prior years. We likely lose all of our production, bring in a bunch of freshmen, try to get older through the portal. Then likely lose 10 games and likely lose early in tournaments. Bottom line he doesn't have time to correct the flaws before next season. I seriously hope I am wrong, but that is the pattern and the current setup.

You know who else has been wetting the bed, Cal. Common sense prevails? If your goal is to be right back here again in 12 months discussing the same crap, this is how you get there.

No, but we do have the #2 recruiting class in 2024 along with the major inroads on players for 2025 and 2026.
We have a ton of NBA stars who all have allegiances to Cal.

All of this equals talent in our pipeline. We need talent to win.

Now if it's a matter of retaining talent or preparing the talent differently or supplementing the talent that comes in, then that's the plan.

It's not jettisoning our one strength for the sake of upset disappointed fans for another coach who does not exist.

Who wants the team to fail? Certainly no one I've seen on this board.

Is that what you do? Create imaginary narratives?

We all want UK to succeed, but unlike you, we will call out Mitch for allowing a coach to steal $9 million a year from this program while driving it off the mountain of greatness.

You think "going along to get along" means you're a good fan. That's hideously disingenuous. You know what Cal is doing is wrong. He's no longer fit for the job. You're not more noble for keeping your mouth shut and going along with it. You actually just help perpetuate Cal's destruction of the program from your place of willing silence.

Flawed take.

Our one strength IS our fans. You seem to be missing that reality in all of your thinking tonight.

You're a moron. And I mean that in the most disrespectful way.

Let’s be realistic. Cal has UConn’s, UH’s, Purdue’s, or any other Sweet 16 roster, the results would be largely the same as UK this year. The man is simply a lazy and uninspired one trick pony basketball coach. The program is at a precipice and is closer to IU than UConn. he has removed all enjoyment from UK basketball.
