Noah committed

After the cavalcade of mercenaries left following Calexit, it is nice for a change to have some players who care about the name on the front of their jersey. I want Perry and Noah to get a shot at letting it rip against the Hogs in Rupp.

As a fellow Harlan countian, this is pretty cool! First basketball Cat from here since Wah Wah Jones. Love to see it.
Dickie Parsons grew up at Yancey in Harlan County and graduated from Harlan High School in 1957. He earned three varsity letters in basketball at UK and finished his career in 1961. Wah Wah Jones concluded his UK career in 1949.

Great news. Love the addition to the roster.

So in short order Pope has signed the best 2 scorers in Ky history, the best 3pt shooter in the country last season, a couple of very tall front court players wiith good skills, a very good distributor PG, and a few defensive specialists.

We look competitive which is all we could expect in landing a new coach so late in the offseason.

Now, Cleveland needs to win the pennant.

I totally agree about Reed's athleticism being underrated but going in the top 10 doesn't mean the NBA guys
think you're one of the most explosive athletes; it just means they think the total package, including shooting and intangibles, makes them one of the top 10 prospects.
Reed is an explosive athlete with a great first step. He drove for wide open layups against elite D1 talent..He might not be the top tier of athletes, but he is well above average. I've watched him play since middle school. You don't go play against multiple players considered top 10 talent in an AAU game on ESPN and be by far the best player on the floor without being a great athlete. His dad played in the NBA and his mom was Ms. Basketball . You don't get to that level without being great. Only 1.2 percent of NCAA basketball players make the NBA. They are not taking Rudy's just because they have a big heart with lots of intangibles .

Who you arguing with; I agreed with you.

Never said he wasn't. The point was he exceeded many expectations. You never know what will happen until they hit the court. I can tell you though that Noah is bigger than Reed and he is a better shooter.
Stop dude. Just stop

Reed shot 53% 3pt for a season..many of which were off the dribble, spot up, etc

This isn’t a game of horse….Noah ain’t going t to eclipse to that shooting acumen

As I said, the HS numbers back up Noah being the better shooter. Reed had one of the greatest shooting season ever but that wasn’t on par with his past shooting numbers. He gets credit for that but he never was going to sustain that over multiple seasons. Noah has proven he can shoot that same percentage. In fact, he shot higher than that during the state tournament. He is simply a better shooter. Reed is more athletic and a better overall player but Noah is the better shooter. Telling me to stop won’t change that fact.

But you don’t know that. He can hit wide open 3s which would be hard to beat in horse.

I love kids that play under pressure of the state tourney. Didnt Noah score 47 points in Rupp? He has that desire to beat your ass by any mean necessary. That cant be taught.
Man, he was totally composed in the final also.

Chandler probably here for a while as well.
Yup, a couple of the transfers are juniors too, that gives us what like 5 guys or so we can build off of starting next year. That allows our HS recruiting to take shape, and target specific portal guys if we can keep that core around. I believe Lanier has 2 years. He is listed as a junior because his first year was the Covid season. Only 10 games played.

I hate Cal but facts don't matter I guess.
This is the new go to slander on this board. If you disagree with anything at all they say you love Cal and should go cheer for Arkansas. It's a nonsense attack to try to drown out dissenting opinions.

It's hack and intellectually bankrupt.

You do you whatever you want. Thats your opinion. I'm here to back everything Mark Pope does. I try not to judge anything Mark pope does. Or what his players are going to do when they arrive at Kentucky. I'm here for #9. I'm in the moment, not 2 or 3 years later. he knows his assignment.
"I'm here to back everything Mark Pope does" Weird statement.

I don't back "everything" anyone does. When people do good things, say "hey that's a good thing" and when people do bad things say "hey I don't like that he did that thing"

As far as Pope bringing in Noah "hey that's a good thing, I like that thing he did"

I will bet your house that he doesn't outshoot Reed percentage wise next year.

I was just reiterating how Reed was so underrated as an athlete. No argument here. The NBA does look at intangibles, but if they think you are going to get abused by superior athletes every night you are not going to be a top 10 pick.

He may not but that doesn’t mean coming into their freshman years out of HS he wasn’t the better shooter. The stats from HS back that statement up.

We should always have a couple spots for the top guys in our home state. Glad to hear it. Not sure I understand the hate, he’s exactly the kind of guy that would manage to go on a heater for South Carolina and cook us in some random late Tuesday night game a year or two down the line to a chorus of whining on here questioning why we didn’t offer him.
No we shouldn't. If they are not good enough they should not be trying to compete in the SEC period. Noah does not fall in the not good enough to compete category. I think he will play a lot of minutes this upcoming season.

That doesn’t change the point or make it any less valid which is you don’t know what they will do until they step on the court.
Reed in high school was a career 38% 3pt shooter

Trent Noah in high school was 37% 3pt shooter thru his Jt season….cant find Sr season

So at best Noah was marginally better in high school. But Reed in a role he wasn’t needed to be a scorer only was able to translate to a floor general and better shot selection to 53% from deep…utterly amazing stats given he was able to do so vs much better competition

Trent Noah may translate similar….i highly doubt it. But to argue he’s a better shooter than Reed is sort of goofy

Noah finished about 4 to 5 percentage points higher than Reed. I’m not arguing anything. I’m stating a fact. People like you are arguing it not me. I’m simply stating a fact about their HS careers. Take your own advice about arguing.

Well show your stats.....

Reed thru 4 years was 1 percentage point higher thru Trent's 3 years worth of stats. So the likelihood of Trent's Sr year alone raising his overall percentage a clear 4% higher is about zilch.

You are clearly a Harlan fan....which is all great. But to argue he'll shoot superior to Reed who just shot the single greatest 3pt season in UK history is sort of nuts.
