Is being extremely strategic in who he decides to get into a bidding war for. JQ, nope. Brea, maybe not. And there will be others he doesn’t decide to play the game for if he isn’t 100% sold on the kid and how he fits his system.
Maybe the whole system thing is more important to Pope than just raw talent. Again, this is JMO. If you don’t fit his plan he doesn’t proceed with the chase.
I just think we may be underestimating the business aspect of CMP in all of this during our rabidness to land players. Personally, I don’t want to land players just to feel good. I want to land players that fit the system and are gonna kick ass from the get-go.
Let’s enjoy this. Think we will be pleasantly surprised but it just might not be on our desired time table…and that’s OK.
