Lakota West junior running back Mikel Horton has been selected to play in the Semper Fidelis All-American Game in Anaheim Jan. 5, 2014, according to Lakota West coach Larry Cox.

Horton, who is verbally committed to the University of Kentucky, is 6 feet 1 and 230 pounds.

Horton was the second area player in the 2014 class to give a verbal college football commitment when he declared in late April.

Horton also had offers from UC, Boston College, Vanderbilt, Florida State, Miami University, Kentucky, Louisville, Minnesota, Western Michigan, Kent State, Toledo, Bowling Green and Indiana.

Horton, who was first-team all-GMC this past season, rushed for 1,003 yards and 13 touchdowns for the Firebirds last season.

He was nominated for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

You gotta love this young man. I am looking forward to watching him play in the very next USAAA Bowl. Lets get him in the blue and white. His down hill running ability could really open up the passing game for Drew Barker.
