So I looked at this list of the top OC's they rated 3 years ago...I'm taking out the head coaches and I wanted to see if they changed jobs and/or moved up....

1. Tony Ellion at Clemson: Now a HC at UVA
2. Kevin Wilson at OSU: Now the HC at Tulsa
3. Phil Longo at UNC: he's at Wisconsin
4. Warren Ruggiero at Wake: He's been there 10 years & hasn't moved on
5. Jeff Grimes at Baylor: Fired and now at KU
6. Tom Manning at ISU: Fired and now with the Colts
7. Jeff Lebby at Ole Miss: Went to OU and now has a HC job at MSU
8. Zak Hill at Az State: He's coaching high school
9. Andy Ludwig at Utah: Still there...but he had some bad stints away from Utah and came back
10. Rhett Lashlee at Miami: Now the HC at SMU
11. Graham Harrell at USC: Went to WVU and now at Purdue
12. Kendall Briles at Ark: He's now at TCU
13. Mike Bobo at Auburn: Back at UGA
14. Kenny Dillingham at FSU: Went to Oregon and now HC at AZ State
15. Rich Rod at ULM: He's the HC at Jax State now
16. Darrell Dickey at TAMU: Fired and now an analyst
17. Joe Morehead at Oregon: He's the HC at Akron
18. Andrew Sowder at Kent State: He's a TE coach at Minnesota
19. Irvin Jasper at Navy: He's at Navy still, but he was fired and demoted from being OC

So generally speaking...only 2 of these 19 guys are in the same position they were in 2021...and those 2 generally are just guys that are locked in under their HC because they do it the way they want...

-2 at their same spot and school
-7 Are Head Coaches
-5 are currently OC's in P5 at different spots
-5 are in worse positions

I may do one about who were the OC's in the SEC in 2021 or something like that to show you that top OC's are at a premium. They're either going to get a great promotion at a blue-blood or become a HC.

This whole mindset of "Why can't Stoops hire a good OC and keep him!!!" just doesn't reflect that everyone all over the country has this same issue. For starters, other coaches don't have that problem because they don't stay at schools as long as Stoops...but on average they'd probably have the same amount of turnover over that span...

If you're a defensive coach....if your OC is bad then you gotta make a change quick...but if you hire a good OC they're not going to stay. When you don't have an offensive HC, the OC position is always going to be transitional.
