Apparently, this younger generation doesn’t understand what Kentucky truly is and means. I didn’t realize that until social media, KSR, etc. Because of that, I just wanted to give them some historical perspective on Kentucky Basketball.

This isn’t meant to talk down to them, make fun of them, etc. It’s to let them know just how important this team and sport is to those of us alive and how much it meant to those of us that have passed on. Because of that, it is much bigger than all of us today. I hope that others will post videos, stories, etc. of different eras of the sport for them, too

Kentucky Basketball is what we as Kentuckians do. It’s who we are. It is life. It always has been and will always be that way. Nothing and no one will ever change that, either. That is why we are the Greatest Team in the History of College Basketball

Kentucky has dominated this sport almost as long as film has been invented. It all started with Coach Rupp.

Rupp’s Legacy

‘If the basketball program fails at the University of Kentucky, then I have built it on a sand foundation.’ - Coach Rupp

I got hooked as an 8 year old in 1977. In 78, I watched the championship with my father. Good or not, UK basketball impacted how I grew up, what I did, how I met friends, where I went to school, the girl I married, the kids I have, and what I do currently. I watched the 2012 championship game with my 9 year old son (full circle) and how special that moment was. He only knows the UK/Cal history. There is so much more. I look forward to the younger generation of UK fans realizing it's bigger than one person, one coach.
